WHAT I'M EATING: AFTERNOON TEA AT HILTON GLASGOW'S TI LOUNGE...

Last week I was invited along to the Hilton Glasgow to have afternoon tea in their new Ti Lounge. ‘Ti’ is Gaelic for tea.

One of my obsessions is Alice In Wonderland, so I could hardly contain my delight when presented with the most fabulously quirky and beautiful selection of cakes, sandwiches and ‘Drink Me’ potion that is their Mad Hatter’s Tea Party afternoon tea (£17 per head).

I am a bit of an afternoon tea-aholic; having had more that I could possibly count. The afternoon teas served at the Ti Lounge are the best value that I have ever seen. In the past I have paid upwards of £30 per head for similar selections.

Some of my favourites from the Mad Hatter’s Tea Party tea were the divine white chocolate covered strawberries (not often found in afternoon teas), the moreish banana cake, and the dainty smoked salmon & cream cheese sandwiches.

If Alice In Wonderland isn’t your bag, the Ti Lounge also do a Confessions of a Chocaholic tea at £15 per head which includes a selection of the same cakes; but instead of sandwiches you get a fondue pot of amazing hot melted bitter chocolate, that counteracts the sweetness of the marshmallows and dipping fruit that come alongside it perfectly.

There is also a Classic Afternoon Tea available (£14 per head), which includes the cakes, sandwiches and some classic extras such as miniature pancakes.

The tea selection from Twinings ranges from the classics to some more interesting infusions, and it’s unlimited. You can also add a glass of champagne to all afternoon tea menus for an additional £9.50 per head. I was suitably stuffed after my visit; but can’t wait to find some time to pop back for more!
