I love secret santa present swaps, so when George at Asda asked me to take part in their blogger secret santa, I got very excited. They even took all the stress out of it by ordering the items I picked, wrapping it and sending it to my assigned blogger for me. We were given a budget of £50 and told to stalk our blogger's blog and social media accounts to work out what they would like to receive.

I love the gifts that I was sent, so thank you mystery blogger! My favourite items are the George Home Letter L Cushion (£5) and the George Home Letter L Throw (£12)- these are right up my street and suit my style perfectly. Nobody is allowed to use these in my house except from me!

I was also sent Asda's Made With Love 12 Days of Pampering Advent Calendar (£10). I love that this will give me an extra little beauty treat each day in the run up to Christmas, instead of just chocolate. There are 12 windows, so I'm going to start opening mine on 13th December as a final countdown to Christmas Day. In the calendar you get a mixture of bath fizzers, bath salts, hand creams and lip balms to enjoy.

Finally, I got a beautiful floral scarf and a pretty bottle of Paul Smith's Rose Perfume (£20). The Floral Print Snood (£5) is made from a gorgeous sparkly metallic fabric; making it perfect for keeping the winter chills at bay. Thanks to George at Asda for asking me to take part- it was a lot of fun to both give and receive. Are you adding any of these items to your Christmas list?

GLAMGLOW YOUTHMUD Tingleexfoliate Treatment

I discovered GLAMGLOW YOUTHMUD when I had a GLAMGLOW facial at a Glasgow day spa earlier this year and I've adored it ever since. If I have a big event to go to, I rely on this the night before to get my skin looking the best it possibly can- it was infact created for Hollywood. It's a face mask that has so many different benefits for your skin and I chose it for today's Face Mask Friday since Look Fantastic have it as one of their Black Friday deals this weekend, where you can pick it up for £39.99 instead of the usual £49.99. It's on 3 for 2 also. The product I have in the photograph is travel size, but you'll get a full 50g pot for this price- enough for approximately 6 treatments.

The first time I tried GLAMGLOW YOUTHMUD, during my facial, it was not a pleasant experience as I wasn't aware it was a 'tingling' product. I'd actually say that burning and stinging are more appropriate adjectives. However the more you use it, the more you get used to this feeling and I don't really mind it now as the results make any discomfort more than worth it.

GLAMGLOW YOUTHMUD Tingleexfoliate Face Mask

It's a lot bitier than your normal smooth clay mask as it contains flakes of Green Tea leaves. The mask is made with French Sea Clay and volcanic minerals and it is designed to deeply clean pores and exfoliate to leave your skin soft, glowing and radiant. The results are definitely instant and last for a good few days after each treatment. You apply a reasonably opaque layer to your skin and leave it on for ten minutes. It will harden and get increasingly more stinging on the skin. When it's time to remove the mask, you wet your hands and rub the mask into your skin to exfoliate it, like you would with a face scrub. I do this for a few minutes and then wipe it off with a muslin cloth.

You skin feels incredibly soft afterwards but still quite hot and burning. There is no visible irritation if you were to look in the mirror, and the feeling does disappear after about half an hour. Your skin also feels a lot tighter and looks a lot smoother as the mask penetrates deeply to soften the appearance of lines.

This is an expensive product, so I keep it for special occasions. If you wanted to use it regularly however, I wouldn't use it more than once per week. Have you tried a GLAMGLOW product before?

L'Oreal Professionnel Steampod Review

I've always been of the opinion that hair staighteners are hair straighteners- I've never understood why people fork out over £100 for GHDs when they can pop to Boots and get a BaByliss set for £20. I then, however, discovered the £170 L'Oreal Professionnel Steampod straighteners and they changed my world. These are no ordinary staighteners. These are the Queen of the straightening world.

L'Oreal Steampod Straighteners

The Steampod is a collaboration between L'Oreal Professionnel and Rowenta Salon Electricals. It straightens and smooths hair using steam instead of just heat. When switched on and the water pod is filled up, they release continuous high-pressure steam to straighten the hair and leave it looking super glossy. From the outside, they look like normal straighteners as they still have heat plates; but the results are phenomenal. It's just like a blow dry and straightening treatment in one as it gives my hair so much added volume and really smoothes it out. It's much quicker to do your hair with this than with regular straighteners too. I usually find straightening a chore, but it is so quick and easy now that I have my Steampod. It even has a clip-on comb to shape your as you go hair too. You can also create beautiful waves and I can't wait to try this next.

There are five temperature settings between 140 and 210 degrees. The literature you get with the device advises you on which one you should use dependant on your hair type. My hair is quite fine so I use them at 170 degrees. To protect your hair, L'Oreal Professionnel have two great Steampod conditioning products- the Steampod Serum (£15.40) and Steampod Sensitised Cream (£15.40) allow you to straighten the hair and keep it hydrated (the steam opens the hair cuticle to retain natural moisture levels) without heat damage. They use Pro-keratin, strengthening ceramides, avocado oil and almond oil to protect your hair and keep it frizz-free.

This nifty gadget is definitely worth every penny as you can get salon results at home easily.  The L'Oreal Professionnel Steampod can be purchased for £170 from Feel Unique.

My ideal night consists of being at home with something good to watch and delicious things to eat. I am definitely a homebody. Last week, my Mum and I settled in to watch the new action thriller San Andreas, with lots to snack on and drink.

I really recommend San Andreas- it's a gripping disaster movie about an earthquake in California and how a Los Angeles Fire Department rescue pilot makes a dangerous journey in his helicopter to find his daughter. Keeping our nerves at bay throughout were delicious cocktails that I made using the easy Strawberry Daiquiri Cocktail Mixer from Funkin Cocktails (£3.99 for 1L from Ocado) and some rum. I even topped them with a little snow (icing sugar) and star ice cubes to make them look festive.

To eat, we had to have the obligatory popcorn. However, we opted for a gourmet version with Joe & Seph's Honey & Hazelnut Popcorn (£2.99 from Ocado). When I get sweet popcorn at the cinema, I always search for the bits that are coated in sugar and extra crunchy. With this gourmet popcorn, all of the pieces are like this- coated in caramel, honey and hazelnuts. We also enjoyed some retro sweets and some chocolate too.

It's the festive season just now, with early dark nights, and it can be a lonely time for year for many people. If you have family or friends that you haven't seen in a while, especially if they are older or more vulnerable members of society, invite them round for a cosy movie night- it's a great way to reconnect.

I discovered the brand Elizabeth Martin Tweed and their amazing creations earlier this year (and I featured them on my blog here). A couple of weeks ago however, I watched the woman herself collect an award at the Herald Online Fashion Awards 2015 and I developed a bit of a girl crush. I was at the awards as a guest of Love Your Clothes- the organisation that aims to eliminate fast fashion and encourage the upcycling and mending of your garments.

Scottish designer Elizabeth Martin was by far the best dressed of the evening, wearing her own new lace Florrie Skirt & Shorts (£230) and Florrie Lace Top (£125) over a black bra. She looked stunning and showed how revealing clothing can be worn elegantly and beautifully.

She won the award for Best Sustainable Online Business as her company uses sustainable Scottish fabrics, such as Harris Tweed and Scottish Lace, to create incredible luxury garments that are designed and manufactured in Scotland. I just had to write a post to share my love for this brand and for Elizabeth's own awards style. Swoon!

My Favourite Winter Foundations

I am loving two foundations at the moment and they are at very opposite ends of the price spectrum. The By Terry Terrybly Densiliss Wrinkle Control Serum Foundation (£76 from is perfect for my dry winter skin to give me a glowing and even complexion, and the SEVENTEEN On The Spot Foundation (£6.99 from covers breakouts perfectly and offers me full coverage on bad skin days.

By Terry Terrybly Densiliss Wrinkle Control Serum Foundation in Vanilla Beige

There is no hiding from the fact that the By Terry Terrybly Densiliss Wrinkle Control Serum Foundation is very expensive. £76 is quite ridiculous for a foundation and normally I would tell you not to spend that amount of money...but, this is a seriously good foundation. In fact, it's one of the best I've ever tried. I may have found the holy grail! I think that this is definitely one for dry or ageing skin- it is a foundation and wrinkle control serum in one and has quite an oily texture. It is dispensed via a pump and you need to give the bottle a good shake before you use it to make sure that everything is mixed. The foundation will give you flawless, even coverage and the serum provides long lasting anti-ageing benefits by firming the skin and smoothing lines. The packaging describes it as providing a matte finish, but I'd say it is more of a dewy finish that makes your skin look beautifully hydrated and natural. There is a huge range of shades to suit all skin tones, and Vanilla Beige is perfect for my cool-toned extremely pale skin. I am praying for my wallet when this bottle runs out.

SEVENTEEN On The Spot Foundation in Porcelain

The SEVENTEEN On The Spot Foundation really offers full coverage and it's great for hiding spots and blemishes. It's not the most hydrating foundation, so I do like to pat an oil underneath to stop it looking cakey. I have the lightest shade Porcelain, but this is still a little too dark for me. I've sorted this out though by adding a drop of The Body Shop's Lightening Shade Adjusting Drops (£10 from before application. This foundation helps to clear my breakouts up too as it contains blemish-fighting salicylic acid. It's all I'm reaching for at the moment when the spots appear.

Have you tried either of these foundations?

Sometimes choosing presents for your best friend can be the hardest thing, as you don't really have any excuses for getting it wrong. I hope that my round-up of Christmas gifts for your BFF in 2015 will give you some inspiration...
BFF Gift Guide

Sleek MakeUP Limited Edition Gold Standard i-Lust Eyeshadow Palette, £7.49, Superdrug | Rosie Wonders Big Bambi Necklace, £28, Flamingo Gifts | Kate Spade 'Bits & Bobbles' Jewellery Bag, £12, Amara | Dolce Dreams Lemon Meringue Body Whip, £15, Fake Bake Beauty | Lush Winter Wonderland Gift Set, £82.95, Lush Cosmetics | Philosophy Skincare Twinkling Snowflakes Trio, £22.50, Boots | Soap & Glory Crazy Sexy Kohl Set, £14, Boots | Olixar Power Bracelet Lightning Bracelet, £14.99, Mobile Fun | Nars Dual Intensity Blusher in Adoration, £30, Space NK | TASTE Cocktails Mojito Kit, £29, TASTE Cocktails

It may be an affordable high-street palette, but Sleek MakeUP eyeshadows definitely rival the quality of high-end brands. The shadows are so pigmented and blendable and this limited edition palette (£7.49) has the perfect Christmas party shades. There are four silky powder eyeshadows and two cream eyeshadows in a beautiful range of gold and bronze shades.

Your BFF will adore this incredibly cute deer pendant necklace (£28) from quirky brand Rosie Wonders at Flamingo Gifts. It's made of chunky gold-toned metal and enamel and it's the ultimate statement necklace all year round.

Most girls love a good cocktail, so why not get her a kit that contains all the ingredients to make her own? TASTE Cocktails produce amazing boxes and their Mojito one (£29) is delicious. Everything you will need is in there, from sugar syrup to five year old rum and coca leaf liqueur.

If your best friend is a Lush-lover, this bumper Christmas gift box (£82.95) with a whopping 20 products (most of which are limited edition festive releases) will make her hyperventilate with excitement. You'll be providing her with luxurious baths for months and what can beat that?

Continuing with the pampering theme, this set from Philosophy (£22.50) is so beautiful. In it you get three sparkling and shimmering shower gels and bubble bath combos. They smell fabulous but the scent is very difficult to describe. Philosophy say that these wintertime scents smell 'frosty', but all I can say is that they are very crisp, fresh and awakening.

After stepping out the shower or bath having had a thoroughly enjoyable time, gift her the gift of smelling like a cupcake factory with the deliciously scented Dolce Dreams Lemon Meringue Body Whip (£15). This moisturising whipped delight smells good enough to eat and is lighter than a body butter but thicker than a lotion. It absorbs beautifully into the skin and will keep her skin hydrated all day long.

All high-end makeup devotees love a bit of Nars and this blush duo (£30) is stunning. The colour looks intense but it blends out beautifully and the lighter shimmery shade works amazingly as a highlighter. These powder blushes are so creamy and pigmented- it'll be love at first sight.

If she is a gadget lover who's permanently glued to her iPhone, this discreet bracelet doubles as a USB data transfer and charging cable for Apple Lightning devices. She need never be caught short again.

Finally, your best friend will never need another eyeliner again with this full colour spectrum set (£14) from Soap & Glory. The kohl pencils are so soft and creamy, so are perfect for using in the waterline too. In this set you get a black, brown, purple, dark blue and green liner to create a multitude of different looks with.

Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief

Clinique are always good for gifts with purchase, and when I bought the Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm amongst other items recently, I got a travel size pot of the famous Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief (£34 from You can use this in several different ways, including as a daily moisturiser; however I prefer to use it as an intensive 5-minute mask to give my skin a boost of hydration.

Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief
Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief Formula

It has a lightweight and cooling gel texture and it's one of Clinique's best selling products. It's suitable for all skin types and it absorbs quickly, leaving you with plump, soft, hydrated and supple skin from the Vitamin E and Aloe Leaf Water ingredients. If you suffer from winter skin flakiness, tight-feeling skin or dry patches, this will sort you right out as well as protecting your skin from environmental pollutants and calming irritation (there's chamomile in there as well as a green tea antioxident too).

I apply a generous layer of this all over my face and leave it for five minutes. My skin literally drinks it up and I just pat a tissue over my skin to soak up any excess after the time is up. It contains silicones so I find that it makes an excellent base for makeup and I've been using this mask treatment instead of a hydrating primer for weeks now.

Have you tried the Clinique Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief before?

Stocking Fillers For Her Gift Guide

For me, the Christmas stocking is my favourite thing about Christmas Day. I love that mine is always filled with little surprises that suit me perfectly. I've put together a round-up of cute and stylish small gifts that any woman would love to discover on Christmas morning...

Paul & Joe Autumn 2015 Bees Lip Treatment Balm, £14, Beauty Bay | Kate Spade New York Telegram Notepad, £10, Amara | Soap & Glory Kissmas Cracker, £6, Boots | Dr Paw Paw Tinted Ultimate Red Balm, £6.95, Dr Paw Paw | Valley Mill Natural Lavender & Citronella Soap, £4, Valley Mill | Cafe de Bain Coconut Macaroon Softening Shower Creme, £2.99, Superdrug | Lush Fairy Dust Dusting Powder, £5.95, Lush Cosmetics | Primark Christmas Socks Trio, £2.50 | Lindt Gold Reindeer & Fluffy Antlers, £5.99, Lindt | Lindt Santa's Little Helpers, £2.79, Lindt | Beauty Blender Micro Mini Duo Kit, £13.50, Beauty Blender | Original Tangle Teezer, £10.99, Boots

With mistletoe everywhere in sight, Christmas is definitely the time for kissing. For suitably soft lips, I have something to suit every taste. For a subtle shine and conditioning properties, the Paul & Joe Lip Treatment Balm (£14) is perfect. Their Autumn 2015 bees tin design (with a ginger and honey flavour) is so pretty that she'll want to reuse it when she has finished it. If however, a bold lip look is her thing, the cult Dr Paw Paw Multi-Purpose Soothing Balm (£6.95) have a bright red tinted version. It's fragrance free and made from ultra moisturising naturally fermented pawpaw.

Now that she has super-soft lips, Soap & Glory's Kissmas Cracker (£6), containing their Sexy Mother Pucker Lip Gloss in Rose and Shine will complete her look. This nude toned gloss can be worn on its own or over a lipstick to make lips appear fuller.

Everyone raves about Tangle Teezers (£10.99), and for good reason. This hair saviour is a plastic brush with different sized bristles that easily brush through knots and tugs to detangle them. It's suitable for all hair types and styles and dramatically decreases the damage that other brushes cause. Another beauty must-have she'll love is the miniature incarnations of the uber-popular Beauty Blenders. This Micro Mini Duo Kit (£13.50) has blenders that are the ideal size for getting into hard to reach places such as the corners of her eyes and the sides of her nose to blend foundation and concealer seamlessly.

What girl doesn't love chocolate? These novelty treats from luxurious chocolate brand Lindt will put a smile on her face on Christmas morning. The iconic Lindt gold reindeers come with fluffy antlers in this set (£5.99), or you could opt for the edible line-up of Santa's Little Helpers (£2.79).

Continuing with the beauty theme, the Cafe De Bain Coconut Macaroon Softening Shower Creme (£2.99) smells good enough to eat and makes a fantastic pampering treat. Another pampering treat with a touch of magic about it is the Lush Cosmetics Fairy Dusy Dusting Powder (£5.95). There is no more popular beauty product at Christmas-time than Lush's incarnations of their coveted Snow Fairy scent. Here the famous sweet candy scent comes as a translucent shimmering body dusting powder to ensure that your loved one glows from head to toe.

What's a Christmas stocking without the obligatory bar of soap? The Lavender and Citronella soap (£4) from independent Welsh brand Valley Mill has a wonderfully refreshing scent. It's 100% natural and contains nourishing shea oil, coconut oil, olive oil, palm oil and castor oil.

Finally, as she'll be wanting to write thank you notes for all her wonderful gifts, you can't beat the stylish Kate Spade for quality and quirky stationery. The Kate Spade New York Telegram Notepad (£10) adds an old-fashioned touch to her penmanship and will look incredibly cool on her desk.

Will you be racing to the shops to pick up any of these?
