GLASGOW DINING FOR VEGANS & ALLERGY SUFFERERS

Zizzi Coconut & Mango Swirl Gelato

Whilst I am not a vegan, vegetarian or an allergy sufferer, I do appreciate that it can be really difficult to find places to eat where you can be confident that your needs are catered for. I visited three Glasgow restaurants recently where I noticed that there were a lot of vegan menu options, vegetarian choices and various gluten and dairy-free ones too. I thought it would be helpful to round them up in a post for you so that you have them all in one place if you are struggling with the decision of where to go for lunch or dinner.

MARCH 2016 BEAUTY FAVOURITES

March 2016 Beauty Favourites

It's a jam-packed beauty favourites this month as I've been using and loving so many different products. I am so pleased to have found the first floral perfume I can wear without getting a migraine and, speaking of headaches, I've found a great helper for mine that's not painkillers! There's also an unusual but wonderful makeup primer hack in there too.

MARCH 2016 FASHION & LIFESTYLE FAVOURITES

Jo Loves Log Fires Candle

I can't believe it's time for another monthly favourites again! This month's fashion and lifestyle favourites is a real mixed bag- there's books, tech, home gadgets, glassware, candles and fashion accessories. I hope you discover something new.

Jo Loves Candle

First up is a candle from Jo Loves. This is the first candle I've tried from the brand, but I'd heard so many good things and Jo is the Jo of Jo Malone fame, so I knew what I was going to get would be good. This Log Fires Candle (£50 from Jo Loves) is simply magnificent. She has managed to capture that warm and comforting scent of burning wood and it's the perfect companion for cosy nights in. I've been burning it every evening. It comes with a beautiful silver and glass lid too, so would make the perfect gift for a person who loves their home comforts.

Relaxing Books
Relaxing Art Therapy Colouring Book

I've also been really enjoying quite a few books this month. As you know, I'm a real adult colouring addict as it calms my anxiety. I was sent a fantastic hardback colouring book by a publisher- Relaxing Art Therapy Colouring Book*- (available from 7th April for £12.99) and it's one of the best I've ever used as it has so many pages that allow for artistic self expression as well as just colouring in. There are pages in here where you can continue patterns and draw your own designs inside shapes and it's so fun.

100 Simple Paper Flowers Book

Another creative book I've been loving is 100 Simple Paper Flowers by Kelsey Elam (£13.48 from Amazon). This has hundreds of tutorials for the most beautiful and realistic looking paper flowers. I'm going to include some of them in a craft project soon, so keep your eyes peeled. If you love making pretty things, you'll love this book.

Start Where You Are Book

The final book I've been enjoying using throughout March is a journal- Start Where You Are: A Journal for Self-Exploration by Meera Lee Patel (£10.99 from Amazon) is such a peaceful and reflective book that allows you to look to the future and work out what you want to achieve, think about your own strengths and weaknesses and just understand your life a bit better. There is something for you to answer and complete on every page- questions such as "Describe something about yourself that pushes people away?". There are really amazing inspirational illustrations in it too.

Epson EcoTank ET-2500 Multifunction Printer
Epson EcoTank ET-2500 Multifunction Printer Ink

I have needed a new office printer for ages now and I finally settled on the Epson EcoTank ET-2500 Multifunction Printer (£189.99 from Amazon) as it can print around 4000 colour pages or 6500 black and white pages before running out of ink- that's approximately two years worth of ink and it comes included in the box. I was also really attracted to the fact that you can print from anywhere using WiFi (even documents from my mobile phone) and that it has scanner and photocopier functions too. It works really well and I'm looking forward to not having to buy any ink any time soon.

Aspinal Marylebone Navy Silk Scarf

Another gadget I've been loving is the new Phillips Steam & Go 2-in-1 Handheld Garment Steamer* (£80 from Amazon) was kindly sent to me by Phillips along with a silk Aspinal Marylebone Silk Scarf (£95 from Selfridges) to test it out on. This scarf is such a classic design and I love that it features handbags on it. I despise ironing and the whole fuss of folding out an ironing board and putting it away again, so this steamer has been a god-send to me. It's so handy and takes all the creases out of my garments and is safe to use on my most sensitive fabrics. It takes around 45 seconds to heat up and I run it down my clothes when they are hanging up over the back of a door. It's also great at removing odours and even miraculously kills bacteria. You can also use it on furniture using the detachable brush head, but I've yet to try this.

Royal Albert Miranda Kerr Champagne Flutes Set
Royal Albert Miranda Kerr Champagne Flutes Set

The last of my fashion and lifestyle favourites for the month are these stunning champagne flute from Royal Albert. I completely fell in love with them as they have a pink tone to them and are engraved with pretty little butterflies. The Miranda Kerr Champagne Flutes Set (£25 from Royal Albert) are a collaboration between model Miranda Kerr and heritage British china and glassware house Royal Albert. They are stunning and perfect for girly at-home afternoon teas- did you see my Mother's Day spread, here?

Are you tempted by any of my favourites this month?

ROSIE FOR AUTOGRAPH MAKEUP COLLECTION

Rosie for Autograph

Model Rosie Huntington-Whiteley has been a long-term fashion and fragrance collaborator with M&S, but her latest range with the retailer is her Rosie for Autograph* makeup collection. This collection is an extensive one and I've been trying a good selection of products from it for a couple of weeks now.

HOUSE OF WONDERLAND JEWELLERY CLUB MARCH BOX

HOW Jewellery Club March Box

House of Wonderland sent me the March box from their HOW Jewellery Club subscription service. The HOW Jewellery Club March Box* (£19 for one month or £50 for three months) is a monthly subscription box that contains a selection of House of Wonderland jewellery as well as other cute lifestyle goodies from independent brands and makers.

They all follow a theme and March's is '50s diner. In the box there's a make your own burger and ice-cream garland, and monochrome postcard print, a burger cross-stitch pattern from the Geeky Stitching Company, a vintage-inspired diner sign magnet, a record charm necklace, a Troll mini burger candy, a pizza charm bracelet, a fabulous badge, a retro sticker set and a red hair bow from Miss Cherry Bakewell.

Large Red Hair Bow

Probably my favourite thing in the box is a huge felt red bow hair clip from Miss Cherry Bakewell. I think this will look really cute during the summer and the winter. You can tell that a lot of thought and care has gone into putting this box together. Not everything is to my personal taste, but it's definitely a great selection that is more than worth the cost of the box. They also included a tiny hint to the theme of April's box, but I'm not going to spoil it for you as it's quite an obvious one!

Have you tried the HOW Jewellery Club before?

SAVE £10 ON BEAUTY AT HOUSE OF FRASER

House of Fraser Spring Beauty Event

I wanted to alert you to the fact that there's another of House of Fraser's fabulous beauty events running at the moment, where you can save money, bag some freebies and learns some new makeup tricks. Until 3rd April you can save £10 when you spend £50 or more on beauty at House of Fraser and include one of their 35 beauty favourites in your purchases.

Lancôme Hypnôse Volume-à-porter Mascara

I wanted to share with you my picks from the line-up of House of Fraser beauty favourites. Buy all three of these and you'll get £10 off. The Lancôme Hypnôse Volume-à-porter Mascara (£23.50) is amazing. I reviewed it in full here, but it creates really full and long lashes for a false lash effect and you can really build up the layers for added drama.

Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Lip Colour in Poppy Cap
Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Lip Colour in Poppy Cap Swatch

I also love the Guerlain La Petite Robe Noire Lip Colour in Poppy Cap (£21.50). The packaging makes a real statement and is so beautiful. It features the cute upside down heart lid that also appears on their fragrance. This shade is a bright red, and it applies quite sheer but can be built up. It has a moisturising glide-on formula and is incredibly shiny.

YSL Touche Éclat Radiant Touch Concealer

Finally, YSL's famous Touche Éclat Radiant Touch Concealer (£25) is one of my go-to under-eye concealers to brighten and hide dark circles. It's lightweight and easy to blend; giving you a natural looking radiance that helps you to look more awake and perfected.

There are also beauty shopping evenings happening at House of Fraser stores across the country during this promotional period. I'm heading to the Glasgow store for their event on Wednesday 30th March at 7PM, where there will be goody bags, free samples from brands and makeup demonstrations where you can pick up some tips. You do need a ticket to gain access, so call your local store for more details.

Will you be picking up some new products before 3rd April?

TRYING TANYA BURR COSMETICS

Tanya Burr Cosmetics

I'm a avid watcher of Tanya Burr's YouTube videos, but until this month I hadn't yet tried any of her beauty products. I thought it was about time I got round to testing them out, so I picked up a small selection from her range to assess the quality and see what I liked.

Tanya Burr Lip Gloss
Tanya Burr Lip Gloss Swatches

I wanted to try a couple of her lip glosses as these were the first products she came out with. I went for the coral I Found Nemo (£5.99 from Superdrug) and the red Aphrodite (£5.99). I really like these! Both are really pigmented, but I Found Nemo is a creamier and more opaque gloss, where Aphrodite is sheerer and has a shimmery finish. They wear well, smell of watermelon (they do to me anyway) and aren't too sticky.

Tanya Burr Nail Polish

I also got two of her nail polishes to try- Riding Hood Nail Polish (£4.99) is a deep brown-toned red and Mischief Managed (£4.99) is a brighter orange-toned red. The quality of the polishes is really nice- they are creamy and go pretty much opaque after just one coat. You do need a second coat, but it's only really to fill in some sparser areas. They aren't the longest lasting polishes as they do chip after a few days, but they have such a nice high-shine finish that it's worth it.

Tanya Burr Perfect Brows
Tanya Burr Perfect Brows Swatches

Finally, I had to pick up her brow kit as I'd heard so much about it- Tanya Burr Perfect Brows (£6.99) is a universal palette that will suit most blonde and brunette hair colours. It has a great mix of four warm and cool, light and dark shades that can be mixed together or used on their own. The little angled brush you get in the kit works really well and the powders look very natural. The only thing I don't like about it is the packaging- I understand this probably helps keep costs low for her young fans, but the cardboard isn't very portable as it would get destroyed very easily rattling about with other makeup in a bag, and it looks quite cheap.

What Tanya Burr Cosmetics product is your favourite?

DECORATING EASTER CUPCAKES

Decorating Easter Cupcakes

It's not Easter Sunday until tomorrow, so there's still time to knock out some Easter cupcakes, either for yourself to gorge on or as cute little gifts for family and friends. I made some yesterday and decorated them in two spring designs.

FACE MASK FRIDAY: BENEFIT THE POREFESSIONAL INSTANT WIPEOUT MASKS

Benefit Cosmetics The POREfessional Instant Wipeout Masks

For this week's Face Mask Friday, I'm reviewing Benefit Cosmetics' The POREfessional Instant Wipeout Masks (£24.50 from Debenhams). This is something really different from Benefit and I love how they've built on the popularity of the cult POREfessional Face Primer to expand the POREfessional brand in so many different directions.

This mask is designed to clean out your pores and smooth their appearance around your nose, chin and forehead. You get 8 oddly shaped strips that you can apply to any of these three areas. you can use the whole strip on one area, or cut the strip to do two smaller areas at once- this gets you a bit more for your money.

KIKO AND LORD & BERRY HAUL

Kiko and Lord & Berry Haul

Both Kiko and Lord & Berry are brands that I've never really delved into properly before- I've tried the odd product from each, but found that I didn't really have a feel for the brands. So, I thought it was time for a haul from each so that I could try quite a few items that interested me or that I wanted to inspect the quality of. I featured some other products that I got from both in a post, here.

PINK PARCEL MARCH SUBSCRIPTION BOX

Pink Parcel Subscription Box

I really like the idea of this women's period subscription box- you choose one of three dates each month for them to ship out your box (the date closest to your monthly period) and they send you out a box of your requested sanitary product for the month, along with a range of wellbeing goodies to help you cope with the pain and the stress that we've all felt at this time.

UK Period Subscription Box

I don't know about you, but there have been several times in my life when my period has started, but due to a busy life, I'd forgotten to buy new tampons or towels after they ran out. You need to resort to rolled up toilet roll until you can get to a shop, and it's not pleasant. Luckily I am on the mini pill, so I haven't had a period for years, but I wanted to share this box as I think it could be really useful to so many of you.

Pink Parcel March 2016

The only thing I don't like about Pink Parcel* (£12.99 per month) is the price, as I think it's a bit too expensive for what you get. Most of the box is sanitary products and you can buy this yourself for just a couple of Pounds per month. Taking this off the cost, you are left with the price of lots of the UK's beauty boxes, and sadly, this just doesn't compete in terms of the quality and size of the items you get. In March's box you get two raw chocolate truffles (which are very tasty), a little makeup pouch, a ginger tea bag, a PawPaw. Papaya Moisturising Balm that you can use literally anywhere to soothe dry skin or soften cuticles, a Simple Candle Co. wax tart melt, a £1 7th Heaven face mask sachet, a glass nail file from Mylee and a natural stone deodorant from Native. I just didn't think the products inside were of that great a quality, which is a shame. Other subscription boxes like Look Fantastic can give you boxes that knock your socks off, so Pink Parcel should be able to do it too.

This box has the potential to do so well- if you struggle with remembering to buy what you need every month, this would be a God-send to you- I think that they just need to perhaps reduce the number of items inside but up the quality of them. What do you think? Am I being unfair?

This post contains press samples, but all opinions are my own.

TRYING OUT SEVENTEEN MAKEUP

SEVENTEEN Makeup

I've seen SEVENTEEN products in Boots, but I haven't tried any of their products, except for one foundation (reviewed here), in over a decade- back when they were branded as 17. I've heard some good things about them recently though, so I wanted to try a few items to get a feel for the brand.

MAKE YOUR OWN EASTER CARDS

Easter Card Tutorial

I love this time of the year as it's full of bunnies, spring lambs, Easter eggs and sunshine. As well as gifting chocolate, I like to make my own Easter cards and I thought I would share a tutorial with you.

Easter Crafts

You will need: blank cards and envelopes, glue, scissors, Hobbycraft Springtime Scrapbook Paper Pad, gold glitter, and Hobbycraft Easter Wooden Embellishments.

First, cut a panel to fit the width of your card from the rabbit print paper and glue it down. Then cut round some of the eggs from the Easter egg print paper and glue these onto two of the corners. Now it's time to stick on some of the wooden embellishments to the centre panel of the card.

Make Your Own Easter Cards

Finally, apply some glue in a strip next to both sets of eggs and sprinkle on some glitter before sticking another cut out egg on top.

Are you going to get crafty this Easter?
