Over the next month, what with Wimbledon, the World Cup and the Commonwealth Games set to takeover the television, i’m contemplating whether to just make like a mole and go underground. I’m beyond not interested- in any of it. I bet they’ll mess with my soap schedule too!
However, if I start digging a hole in my garden to hide in, people will surely get called. So instead, here are my top picks for ball and racket wielding distractions…
Read–
Readly are offering a free 30-day ‘read all the magazines you want’ trial. You don’t have to enter any payment details. Just download the app from your app store, login with Facebook and enjoy a plethora of magazines. There isn’t a huge selection of titles (no Company, Cosmopolitan or Tatler– *sad face*); but they do have Marie Claire, In Style, Now, Look and Essentials.
Watch–
If you don’t want to take on a Netflix or equivalent subscription, and you’ve already used up all your free trials, try the simple pay-as-you-go Blinkbox. Pretty Little Liars and Revenge are on there, and at around £10 per season, they are more than worth it to escape the football madness.
Listen–
I pay £7.99 each month to Audible for one monthly audiobook. I love a talking book before bed- full unabridged ones. At the moment i’m listening to Lindsey Kelk’s The Single Girl’s To Do List and it’s very funny. All the voices are acted out, so it’s much more entertaining than reading the actual novel. If you don’t like books, you could always just use it to drown out “it’s a gooooal” or “get IN there Murray”.
