It’s monthly favourites time again. August has gone so quickly, and we are rapidly getting into Autumn. I must admit, I am looking forward to the cosy dark nights. As usual, I want to share with you the beauty products that I’ve loved and used the most throughout August, in the hope that you’ discover some new favourites too.
STRUCTURE GLAMTEX Backcomb Effect Spray, £14.38, Amazon
I am in love with this new product from hair brand STRUCTURE. It’s a very lightweight dry texturising spray that is designed to be used on your roots to give them serious lift and volume as if your hair has been backcombed. It doesn’t leave your hair sticky or crispy unless you use too much- once you get an effect you like, stop there, as it is easy to go overboard with this spray. I don’t like flat hair- I love having some height to it, so this is perfect. It smells amazing too.
Boots Perfect Colour Permanent Hair Dye in Dark Brown, £3.50, Boots
I usually dye my own hair at home, with a dark brown permanent box dye. This is the first time I have used Boots’ own brand and I’ve been really impressed with it. It worked perfectly, and left my hair very glossy and silky from its keratin ingredient. My colour is lasting well, and I’ll definitely use this again.
Lancôme Hypnôse Volume-à-porter Mascara, £22.50, House of Fraser
This has been my go-to mascara all month. It creates very natural jet black effect lashes with intense volume. This mascara is not one for creating a ‘false-lash effect’. Instead, it offers buildable volume and added length without making your lashes look unnatural or clumpy. You can really layer this mascara on until you get the look you like- it doesn’t feel heavy and you get a good curl with this. The brush has 306 bristles of differing lengths so that you can coat every lash from root to tip. Plus, not only does it make your lashes look good, but it cares from them too, with softening and conditioning rose cells.
Sleek MakeUP Crème to Powder Blush in Amaryllis, £5.99, Superdrug
This new release from high-street make-up brand Sleek MakeUP is a real winner. They have launched six shades of this new blusher formula, and I’ve been wearing the dusky pink Amaryllis shade all month. They are a cream formula in the pan, but turn to a powder effect when hitting your skin. They have a radiant satin finish, and are easy to blend if you work quickly and use just a small amount. The colour also hangs around all day; which I love.
Emma Hardie Protect & Prime SPF 30, £45, Cult Beauty
I was lucky enough to get a facial from Emma Hardie herself last month, and she used her newest launch- the Emma Hardie Protect & Prime SPF 30. I’ve since been using it daily over my normal moisturiser and love it for so many reasons. Firstly, it is a great facial SPF as it’s lightweight and feels really nice on the skin. Secondly, it is also a primer that has light-diffusing particles to blur imperfections and even out your skin tone. It creates such a beautiful effect on your skin if you just wanted to wear this and nothing else; but if you want to put make-up on top, it makes a wonderful base for it. Finally (as if that wasn’t enough) it also contains skin conditioning ingredients to help look after your skin and enhance its elasticity- Mongongo oil, oat extract and Vitamin E. I do love a good multi-purpose product.
