This month’s Look Fantastic Beauty Box is another winner- this is definitely the best beauty box on the market. What makes it exceptional value for money is that for the rest of 2016 you get a copy of Elle Magazine (worth £4) too. You can subscribe or just buy this month’s box as a one off. The longer period you subscribe for however, the cheaper each individual box works out as. It’s definitely a beauty box you need to know about.
This month’s theme is Destination Beauty, which looks at the beauty hotspots around the world. There’s skincare from France in there as well as UK high-street cosmetics. First up is the Codage Masque Hydratant Moisturising Mask (you will either get this or a Codage serum)- this French brand was started by siblings who grew up in a family of pharmacy workers. They wanted to start a brand that catered for specific skin types, with a focus on nourishing the skin with quality ingredients. Their hydrating mask is a lovely treat for dry skin as it leaves it plump and glowing. It’s perfect for sensitive skin too.
There’s a lot of skincare in this box, as there are also products from French brands Caudalie and Nuxe. The travel size Caudalie Micellar Cleansing Water is perfect for taking with you on trips. It’s very gentle and has a reviving citrus and mint scent. A cotton pad with some of this on it will wipe of your makeup easily. Also in the box is the Nuxe Creme Prodigieuse Anti-Fatigue Moisturising Cream. It’s lightweight and calming on the skin, but I just couldn’t get past the smell. This stuff is strong in the scent department- a very deep and heady floral- and I hate it. It’s suitable for all skin types however and is supposed to be great at tackling dryness and damage. I just couldn’t keep it on long enough to find out.
The last skincare product in the box is from the good old US of A. The Ultra Repair Cream from cult brand First Aid Beauty is a head-to-toe moisturiser. I use it on my body only as I prefer to just put products that are specifically formulated for the face on my skin there. This cream is very hydrating and really soothes the dry and sore skin on my one particularly dry elbow. It’s scentless and is a rich blend of oatmeal and Shea Butter.
Now onto the makeup products- there’s a really nice just launched product from Revlon in the box this month. The Revlon Colourburst Lip Balm has a triple butter formulation of Shea, Mango and Coconut Butter. It’s very smooth and creamy, and gives your lips a light tint. My problem with this is that it’s quite shimmery- I can’t be doing with glitter, however finely milled, in lip products- so I passed this over to my Mum and she’s been loving it and finding it so moisturising. There isn’t a shade written on it, but I presume there’s more than one.
Finally you get a Lottie London makeup brush. I’ve raved about this brand on my blog (here) before, and you’ll either get their concealer brush, angle brush, eyeshadow brush or blending brush. I have the angle brush and I love it. This synthetic brush is perfectly small enough to get right into your lash line and I use it to line my eyes with eyeshadow when I cant be bothered with the preciseness of using an actual eye liner.
Also popped into the box are a couple of sachets of an orange-flavoured vitamin water infusion. To be honest, I haven’t tried one and just stuck them straight in the bin.
Do you want to try this box for yourself now?
