Once again I’m bringing you a review of this month’s Look Fantastic Beauty Box* (from £11.25 per month). The May 2016 box is a good one, but I think some subscribers may feel there is too much of the same product inside- it does have a couple too many face moisturisers in there, but the Wet Brush will definitely be its saving grace and will stop too many complaints.
The Wet Brush (£11.99 from Look Fantastic) is the stand-out item in this month’s box. If you think that you love your Tangle Teezer, wait until you try a Wet Brush. It’s like a gift from God and literally just glides through knots. I can’t believe that I haven’t had this in my life sooner. There is no doubt on earth that you need one of these – go and buy it now!
Another hair product in this month’s box is a miniature hair conditioning spray (9ml). The Uniq One All In One Coconut Hair Treatment (£14.75 for 150ml from Look Fantastic) has 10 benefits- it repairs damaged hair, provides you with heat protection, improves shine, makes hair smooth, protects coloured hair, detangles, provides hold for styles, prevents split ends, adds volume and contains UV filters. I really like this spray and think it works well. It feels nice and weightless in the hair and smells good too.
The other five items in the box are facial skincare products. First there’s a little trial sachet (5ml) of Eve Lom cleanser (£55 for100ml from Look Fantastic) that comes with a handy muslin cloth. I don’t personally like the smell of this cleanser- cloves- but this would be a great item to keep hold of for travel as the sachet and the cloth are packed compactly together. There are also a strip of 7 trial pods (7 x 1ml) of the Ioma Optimum Moisture Cream (£49 for 30ml from Look Fantastic) that can be used either in the morning or at night. It protects the skin against the environment, helps it to lock in moisture and combat dryness. I haven’t completed the full 7 day trial yet, but I have been using it in the morning for a few days now and it leaves my skin very soft and supple. It absorbs easily and feels very lightweight too.
Next up there’s a miniature radiance boosting serum from REN (10ml). The REN Wake Wonderful Night-Time Facial (£32 for 40ml) is designed to be applied to the skin before your usual night-time moisturiser. It contains Glycolic and Lactic Acids plus AHAs that work on your skin overnight to brighten the skin and even out the skin tone through chemical exfoliation. There’s also Cranberry Seed Oil to reduce UV damage, Arctic Blackcurrent Seed Oil to repair cells and tissue, Sodium Lactate to bring moisture to the skin and Magnesium and Glycogen to heal and renew. It’s packed full of active ingredients that makes my skin very soft and smooth when I wake up in the morning.
Finally, there are two other facial moisturisers- a minature tube of the Decleor Intense Nutrition Comforting Cocoon Cream (£45.50 for 50ml from Look Fantastic), which is a thick, rich cream that reminds me a lot of the L’Occitane Immortelle Precious Cream (which I reviewed here). It contains Cranberry Plant Oil, Argan Oil and Avocado Oil to nourish, moisturise and protect the skin, as well as Phystoqualane which regenerates the skin’s hydrolipid film barrier. This cream has an intense floral aromatherapy scent, but it’s a very natural one like genuine crushed flowers.
The other moisturiser also has a strong floral scent, but unfortunately this one is a typical ‘old lady’ smell that seems very artificial. I usually love Vichy products, but this deluxe sample tub (15ml) of their Liftactiv Supreme Face Cream (£29.95 for 50ml) hasn’t impressed me. This is an anti-aging cream that’s designed to firm the skin and target lines and wrinkles- it contains Rhamnose which stimulates collagen production and boosts cell turnover. It also evens out the skin tone, brightens and delivers intense hydration. I didn’t use the cream long enough to test this out as the smell and slightly greasy texture put me off it.
What do you think of the products in this month’s Look Fantastic Beauty Box? Look Fantastic is definitely a beauty box you need to know about.
