Barry M’s new Summer 2016 releases* will make you feel so summery. I love some of the bits in the collection and I dislike others, so I wanted to take you through what I’ve been trying out.

I adore the new lip oils- the Berry Good Lip Oil and the Coco Loco Lip Oil (£4.99 each from Superdrug) are incredibly nourishing and conditioning. They aren’t sticky or greasy and they both smell amazing. Coco Loco is clear and contains hydrating Coconut Oil and smoothing Camelia, and Berry Good has a slight pink tint that just adds a bit of natural colour to your lips and contains nourishing Raspberry & Pomegranate Oils. I am really in to lip oils at the moment as they make my lips so soft and act as a shiny gloss too.

I also really like the Let’s Be Clear Lip Fixer (£3.99 from Superdrug). It’s a clear lip liner, so it lines the lips and stops lipstick bleeding but has no colour. Heavy lip liner is really popular at the moment thanks to Kylie Jenner, so it’s nice to find a good-performing clear one for subtle lip looks. If you have fine lines on your lips, you can also use this to fill them in for a smooth base for lipstick.

Finally, makeup-wise, I’ve been trying the It’s a Brow Thing Shape & Define Brow Powder in Medium (£4.99 from Superdrug). This shade is perfect for my brows and I really like the velvety-soft formula and pigmentation of the powder. The applicatior lets this down for me though, sadly – it’s a little soft stick that makes it difficult to work with a light touch colour-wise. I much prefer powder in a pan that I can apply with an angled eyeliner brush to really fill in more precisely and distribute colour more naturally.

Onto the nail polishes, there are two Superdrug-exclusive releases – the pink Carnival Couture and the beige Festival Fever (£3.99 each from Superdrug) both have a fine gold shimmer running through them. It’s not obviously noticeable, but adds subtle hint of sparkle. I really like them and they wear and apply nicely. Don’t expect them to last more than a few days without chipping, but these are budget nail polishes so that’s expected.

Boots also have two new limited edition Barry M polishes (£3.99 each from Boots). I love Golden Sands as it has a texture that resembles real sand – it’s almost matte and has a gritty gold glitter running through it’s translucent beige base. On my pale skin, I really dislike the other gloss shade Beachy Keen as the brown colour of it looks horrible. It’s a very strange colour for a nail polish and I really can’t imagine what skin tone it would suit.

Finally, I tested out Barry M’s new range of Lolly Gloss nail polishes (£3.99 each from Superdrug). There are four shades – Cherry Drop (a dark pink), Orange Fizz (a bright orange), Pink Candy (a fuschia) and Purple Pop (a blue-toned purple) – and I couldn’t hate them more if I tried. They are supposed to resemble stained glass and boiled lollipops, but they just remind me of the sheer nail polishes you would get in cheap princess makeup sets as a little girl. These look really cheap and patchy and they chip almost instantly. The swatches above show one coat, then two coats.
