If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll know that I’ve been loving bright and colourful makeup over the last month or two. The more vibrant the better! So many brands have some great colourful eye, lip and cheek products at the moment, so I wanted to share my favourites with you.
First up, I did a bit of a Kiko Milano haul at the new Glasgow Buchanan Street store last month, and nearly everything I picked up was bright and colourful. I adore their fluorescent Pigment Loose Eyeshadows (£5.90 from Kiko). I got shade 19 Fluo Orange and shade 20 Fluo Pink. These little pots will last you a lifetime as you only need to use the tiniest amount at a time. They are easily blended, extremely pigmented and don’t budge once they’re on.
I also got one of their cream eyeshadow pots – the Kiko Cream Crush Lasting Colour Eyeshadow in shade 15 Pearly Turquoise (£6.90 from Kiko) is a bright sea-coloured blue-green shade that has a slight irridescence and sparkle to it. It blends out really nicely and is very long lasting.
The final eyeshadow product I picked up from Kiko was their Eyetech Look Eyeshadow in shade 107 Metallic Lilac (£5.90 from Kiko). This is a vibrant lilac that comes in a pen-style format where the product in contained in the lid and it automatically dispenses onto the sponge applicator when screwed on. The colour is really pigmented and has a lovely creamy formula, but you do have to dip the applicator in quite a few times to get your whole eye covered.
I also picked up some bits from NYX now that they have launched counters in Boots stores. The first was a coloured mascara – the NYX Color Mascara in Mint Julep (£5.50 from Boots) is a vibrant mint shade. I love the colour of this, but the formula is very wet and clumps and weighs down your lashes (as you can see in the above photo). It works much better over a black mascara just on the lash tips to add a touch of colour.
The final two eye products I picked up from NYX were two of their Vivid Brights Eyeliners (£5.50 from Boots). These are utterly amazing and I cannot wear them enough! Go and check out my Instagram for some pics. They are incredibly pigmented, unmoveable and you can line your eyes in just one vibrant swipe. I picked up Sapphire (bright blue) and Petal (pastel pink).
A blusher I’m loving at the moment is the Bagsy Pretty Cheeks Velvet Blush in shade 01 Velvet Rose* (£16 from Feel Unique). This is a beautiful creamy pink blusher that blends out to a natural-looking powder-like finish. You only need to use the smallest amount, so just dab this lightly onto your cheeks.
Finally, onto lips – I picked up a lip crayon from Kiko that is an amazing bright metallic Barbie pink. The Kiko Lip Gloss Pencil in Hot Pink (£3.90 from Kiko) has a really creamy formula that feels light on the lips. It’s not very long-lasting, but it’s so easy to reapply that I don’t mind this. It contains conditioning Vitamin E too.
Another lip product I’ve been loving is a gloss. The Collection DeLuxe Lip Lacquer in Show Off* (£4.18 from Asda) is a new release from Collection. The colour is a beautiful vibrant coral and it looks incredibly glossy on the lips. I love the applicator on this too as it dispenses product evenly and allows you to get right into the corners neatly. Unfortunately, the formula of these lip lacquers is very sticky and if I didn’t love the colour so much, I probably wouldn’t wear it sadly.
Finally in this very long post, I’ve been loving Glitter Lips* (£12.50 from Beauty Boulevard) for nights out. These are really fun and look fantastic, but they are extremely uncomfortable to wear so I’ll definitely save these for very special occassions only. You apply glue to your lips first – this smells horrible and is basically just like fake eyelash glue – and then you dab on the glitter from the pot. It’s very tricky to get an even coverage, and when it dries it feels very tight on your lips. No pain, no gain though right?! Once on, there’s no moving it though (without scrubbing with cleanser), which is good. The shades I have are Ultra Glam (lavender) and Ruby Slippers (red).
Which of these products do you like the look of?
