Apologies that this post is a bit late again – I do try to aim for the end of each month, but sometimes it doesn’t work out that way. Yesterday you got my August Fashion & Lifestyle Favourites (here), so now it’s time to share my beauty loves from the past month with you.
Let’s start with skincare. I’ve been enjoying using this Burt’s Bees Orange Essence Facial Cleanser (£11.49 from Burt’s Bees) so much in the morning as it really wakes me up, as well as cleaning my face really well (with Orange Oil and Soap Bark Extract) and leaving it moisturised – via Olive Oil, Aloe and Glycerin. It’s made with 99.9% natural ingredients and smells incredibly strongly of freshly squeezed oranges – really sharp and zesty. It’s a thick balm cleanser, so the oils in it are great for my dry skin.
For the first time ever, I’ve also been using an oil under my eyes in the mornings instead of an eye cream (which I use at night). I wasn’t that into the idea when I got sent this product, but the more I used it, the more I loved it. The PURE Regenerate & Boost Eye Serum* (£34.50 from PURE Spa) is a creation from a Scottish chain of spas. It’s an anti-ageing oil that contains natural antioxidents, Retinyl and Argan Oil to hydrate and moisturise the skin under the eyes and around the brow bone, as well as plump and renew it. You need just one drop to do both eyes and it’s very light, non-greasy and fast-absorbing.
A body product I’ve been loving is the Bean Body Peppermint Coffee Bean Scrub in (£14.95 from Holland & Barrett). I’m really into coffee and raw/natural scrubs at the moment and this one is a great one to start your day with – the minty scent really wakes you up and leaves your skin tingling. This is obviously a course ground coffee and rock salt scrub, but it’s just the right level of rough. It contains lots of lovely, natural skin softening and nourishing ingredients such as organic cacao powder, almond oil, cold pressed coconut oil, Vitamin E, jojoba oil, glycerol and hyaluronic acid. If you are not a morning person, but want to be, you need this in your life.
This next product is maybe a bit of a weird one to put in a favourites post, but I’ve really been loving using the new Soft & Gentle Cool Boost Anti-Perspirant (£2.99 from Asda). It’s so cooling and refreshing to use and then it keeps you sweat-free and feeling fresh all day. It uses Menthol and it’s natural cooling properties to both cool and provide a unisex scent.
one coat, two coats
I have been wearing the Collection Solar Shine Gel in Biarritz (£3.99 from Boots) a lot this month, and I know I’m going to get so much wear out of this shade through autumn. I love the Solar Shine Gel formula as it looks exactly like gel nails – very glossy and very plump – and it last for around a week too. It’s a two-step process as you need to apply the clear top coat from the range as well, to get the full effect. It applies and removes just like regular nail polish – no UV lamps or foils involved.
Finally, the Blotterazzi by Beauty Blender (£16 from Beauty Blender) has saved my makeup on the hot summer days we’ve had this month. These are thin, tear drop-shaped, flat sponges that have a wide surface and they are designed to blot your face from sweat and oils without damaging your makeup underneath. They come as a pair in a handy compact (with mirror) to keep them clean. These are just really useful and they do their job very well. I like that you can wash and re-use them too, unlike blotting papers.
