Kiko always have chic and sleek packaging for their limited edition collections. This one has been designed by Ross Lovegrove, who was also behind the design of their limited edition summer trend collection (reviewed here). The Neo Noir Collection is edgy, with black, curvy and carved packaging.
This collection is perfect for autumn has it’s full of dark smokey shades, with added pops of colour for those who like that. To me, it has a real rock-chick and femme fatale vibes. I have some key pieces from the line-up to review and swatch for you. I am always amazed that Kiko can produce such great quality products for the price, and this collection is no exception.
There is one blusher, one bronzer and one highlighter in the collection and both have two shades that you can use seperately or swirl together with your brush. The Neo Noir Design Flower Enriched Highlighter* (£12.90 from Kiko) is very subtle. So for those who struggle to find a subtle highlighter, this is for you. It’s so subtle that I couldn’t get you a decent swatch that you could pick up on camera with my skin tone. It does, however, have a lovely creamy powder formula that’s enriched with petal extracts to create targeted points of light. There is a very slight irridescence to it and it enhances the high points of your face rather than coating them with shimmer so they can be seen from space. On a dark skin tone, it may be more obvious however.
Onto the lipsticks, which have that really satisfying magnetic packaging that clicks when you put the lid on. There are 8 shades of the new Neo Noir Enigma Lipsticks* (£11.90 from Kiko) and I have three of them – 01 Typography Pink is a very light pink shade that is a bit lighter than my own lip shade, but might match most natural blondes, 02 Mysterious Peach is my favourite and is the perfect peach-pink toned nude for my lips, and finally, 05 Magnetic Rust is a light brown-toned pink. The formula of these is amazing and is almost like a combination between a lipstick and a lip gloss. It’s very creamy, glossy and has a sheer but buildable finish. It feels very conditioning, very light on the lips and it makes them look full and plump. These lipsticks contain various oils and waxes, including passionfruit oil, to nourish the lips and give the lipstick that slick but non-sticky texture, but you do have to top up your lipstick throughout the day because of this.
There are also Neo Noir Enigma Lip Liners* (£5.90 from Kiko) of which there are also 8 corresponding shades. These are also incredibly creamy, and pigmented too, so you need to use the lightest of touches when applying. If you want longer-lasting colour from your matching Enigma Lipstick, fill in your whole lip with the liner first. I have been playing with shades 04 Theoretical Burgandy (a deep, dark brown-purple shade) and 06 Seduction Rose (a dark pink-toned red). These are matte and look really nice on their own over your whole lip.
Finally, I’ve been trying out the Neo Noir Contour Duo Brush* (£12.90 from Kiko). This is an amazing brush for contouring – the brushes are quite firm with densely packed bristles, allowing you to create a strong contour line. I’ve been using the flatter end of the brush for my contour and the rounded end to dab highlighter onto my cheekbones and really like how they perform. How pretty do the blush pink tips look too?!
Have you tried anything from the Kiko Neo Noir Collection yet?
