    DIY MINIMALIST HALLOWEEN PUMPKINS

October 24, 2016 in LIFESTYLE, Uncategorized

    Minimalist Pumpkin Designs

I wanted to try out some quick and easy pumpkin decorating ideas this year, that didn’t involve the mess of carving or a complicated design. So, I produced these two pumpkin designs and wanted to share the tutorials for them with you.

    Pumpkin Decorating

To create these pumpkins yourself, you will need: two pumpkins, orange craft paint, purple craft paint, white craft paint, PVA glue, gold leaf, white glitter, alphabet stickers and large and small paintbrushes.

To make the purple ‘Trick or Treat’ pumpkin, paint your entire pumpkin and stalk purple. You will need to do a couple of coats to get it opaque. Then, when it’s dry, it’s time to stick your lettering on. If your alphabet stickers aren’t black, just put a coat of black paint over them. Mine where gold and when I painted them black, it gave me a lovely sparkly black effect.

To make the rustic cream and gold leaf pumpkin, mix some white and orange paint together to get an light orange-cream shade and paint your entire pumpkin and stalk. Again, you will need to do a couple of coats to get this opaque. Once this has dry, pour some white paint over the stalk of your pumpkin and let it fall down where it wants to go. You can then get in and mess it about a bit so it doesn’t look so neat. Once your paint dries, paint some PVA glue onto your stalk and pour some irridescent white glitter over the stalk to give it a magical feel.

Finally, apply a thin layer of PVA glue to the top of your pumpkin (this will dry clear) and start to stick on small pieces of gold leaf. Apply this quite generously until you get the look you want.

Will you be trying to make either of these?
