A couple of weeks ago, the Glasgow Loves Christmas team treated myself and some other bloggers to a fun-filled day out in Glasgow to show us what the city has to offer at Christmastime.
We started our day off at the lovely Kimbles cafe and chocolate shop in the city’s St. Enoch Centre. They sell a huge range of luxury chocolates, so if you are still looking for any stocking fillers, this is the place to head to.
Their cafe also has an extensive hot chocolate menu and the star of the show for me was their DIY White Chocolate Hot Chocolate – you get a mug of hot milk, as well as a dish of white chocolate buttons to mix into it, and marshmallows and whipped cream to top it off with. So nice! Kimbles also has a spectacular view over St. Enoch’s Square, which is home to a Christmas market in December.
Also in the St. Enoch Centre is the Glasgow branch of famous toy store Hamleys. We headed there next to meet some lively elves and visit Santa. Their Santa experience is so much more than just standing in a queue, having a minute with the man himself and then leaving – it’s such a magical experience for kids and all details have been thought of, right from when you are greeted with Santa’s elves checking his Naughty or Nice List. You are then taken, singing carols, to their Party Room grotto where you are told about all the latest popular toys, before you get an audience with Santa and a chance to tell him what you want for Christmas.
Next we headed to the only Charlotte Tilbury counter in Scotland, in Glasgow’s House of Fraser. The team there treated us to a masterclass in how to achieve her sophisticated but sultry signature Dolce Vita look. If you haven’t experience Charlotte Tilbury’s products yet, you really need to as they are incredible. I featured a masterclass with Charlotte Tilbury herself on my blog here last month.
All of Charlotte’s looks begin with her ultra-softening Goddess Skin Clay Mask, followed by her moisturising Magic Cream – the perfect base for makeup. I think her eyeshadow quads are my favourite products, and you can re-create this look and the incredible sparkle with her The Dolce Vita Luxury Palette.
We then went across the road to the Argyll Arcade, home to so many of Glasgow’s jewellers. We went to ROX, the luxury diamond specialist, for afternoon tea in their stunning Thrill Room where we ate delicious cakes and looked at pretty jewels. Pieces here range from affordable bracelets under £50 to the most epic of upmarket diamond rings. Don’t be intimidated to go inside as the staff are so friendly.
I had to leave the day out a bit early to set up my blogger sleepover, so the last stop for me was the Buchanan Galleries shopping centre to do a bit of Secret Santa shopping for one of the other bloggers in the group. I also received a gift, which I was so happy with. I got the Zoella Lifestyle ‘Once Upon a Time…’ Notebook that I’ve wanted for ages, as well as a Joules Lip Balm Trio and a Sanctuary Spa Get Cosy Candle. The shopping centre has everything from Boots and Thorntons to John Lewis and Swarovski.
I had such a fun day and it was a great reminder of what my city has to offer. To find out what’s on in Glasgow at Christmas, visit the Glasgow Loves Christmas site.
I received all experiences in this post free of charge, but all opinions are my own.
