It’s Valentine’s Day in a week’s time and whether you have a date planned with your partner or your best friends, you need one of these new lipsticks or lip glosses on your lips. If you are a nude-toned girl or love a pop of colour, there’s something here for you.
The Marc Jacobs Beauty Enamoured Hi-Shine Gloss Lip Lacquer in Hot Hot Hot* (£22 from John Lewis) is a lovely pink-toned red with gold shimmer, high-shine lip gloss. It’s not sticky and gives your lips a lovely hint of colour. They really enhance your pout too (via its unique triple shine complex) and make it look much fuller than it is. I love the formula of these glosses and find them really long-wearing. The mint scent is incredible too.
If you prefer a nude, intense glossy look, go for the Marc Jacobs Beauty Enamoured Hi-Shine Gloss Lip Lacquer in Love Buzz* (£22 from John Lewis) is a pearly pale pink. It’s a very natural shade that would go amazingly with a dark smokey eye. You still more or less keep your natural lip colour with this shade, but you get the most incredible shine and a pout that looks like you’ve had some help.
Talking of nudes, you need to try the fabulous new Bare Minerals Gen Nude Buttercream Lipgloss in Far Out* (£17 from Bare Minerals). These lipglosses are more pigmented than the sheerer Marc Jacobs ones, so you’ll get more colour on your lips. There are 15 shades and this is the one of the very palest shades – a flesh-toned cream. You would either need really pale natural lips like mine, or you could use this on top of a darker lipstick to make it lighter. The formula of these lip glosses are so creamy and not at all sticky. They also contain ingredients that nourish and condition your lips too.
Finally, there’s my favourite of the four – I’m obsessed with the colour of Estee Lauder’s Pure Color Envy Liquid Lip Potion in 230* (£20 from Estee Lauder). It’s a very striking orange-toned pink and is a liquid lipstick. The formula is so creamy and you get a high-pigmented, even coat of colour in just one coat. It dries down to a semi-matte and really makes your lips ‘pop’. The formula is comfortable to wear, moisturising and very long-lasting too.
