Burt’s Bees new range of natural lipsticks are great, so I wanted to share a selection of them with you. They are moisturising like a lip balm, but have the colour pay-off of a lipstick too. With 18 shades to choose from, there is something for everyone.
These completely natural and cruelty-free lipsticks* (£9.99 from Burt’s Bees) really are dreamy. The formula is intensely moisturising – offering 8-hour conditioning and softening with Beeswax, Moringa Oil, Raspberry Seed Oil and Vitamin E. They feel so nice and non-greasy on the lips and you get a good hit of bold even colour (with the exception of one shade – 533 Orchid Ocean) that lasts too. I love that you can see the lipstick shade through the packaging, which makes finding the one you want in your collection a lot easier. The plastic bullet and casing isn’t all that chic, but it does fit with Burt’s Bees environmentally-friendly ethos.
Let’s go through the 8 shades that I have. In the pink and red spectrum, from left to right, we have the very pale pink 510 Iced Iris, deep fushcia 511 Magenta Rush, 513 delicate rose Doused Rose and coral 523 Sunset Cruise (my favourite).
If you want to try the lipsticks on yourself digitally and make a fun GIF, Burt’s Bees interactive Wall of Kisses is currently touring the UK. This weekend (3rd-5th March 2017), the guys are in Glasgow at Buchanan Galleries, so pop on down. There will be makeup artists who can match you to your perfect shade in real life too.
Onto the nude and dark shades. From left to right, I have flesh-toned 500 Nile Nude (I love this on my skin tone), muted pale coral-pink 501 Blush Basin, pale brown 502 Suede Splash and 533 Orchid Ocean. Orchid Ocean is the only shade that I don’t like as it applies very patchy – both as a hand swatch and on the lips. I don’t know why the colour pay-off isn’t even with this shade, but it looks quite bad on.
Which shade do you like the look of?
