The lip plumping mask is another beauty trend we can thank Asia for. These gold and collagen-infused gel masks are designed to inject your skin with a dose of moisture, fill out fine lines and make them softer.
The Crystal 24K Gold Powder Gel Collagen Lip Masks (£2.34 for 5 from Amazon) come individually in a serum-filled sachet. They are slimy and feel a bit like a wet fish. You position them over your lips so that they also cover the skin up to your nose and down the sides of your mouth – the places where you get wrinkles and smile lines around your lips.
I like to use one of these before a night out or an important event, as they do make my pout look fuller and they create a lovely base for lipstick – soft and smooth lips. The serum that the masks are soaked in is infused with plant collagen to stimulate cell renewal, firm skin and improve elasticity, replenish moisture and plump out lines. They also have finely milled gold particles to improve circulation, firm skin, increase skin elasticity and reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles.
They don’t taste great, and they are a tad annoying to have to keep on your lips, but these do provide temporary results that are perfect for use before doing your makeup for an important occasion, so i’d defintiely recommend trying a lip mask before resorting to something expensive and invasive like lip fillers. Yes, it’s a bit risky to just buy some random un-branded masks from Amazon and put them on your face; but that’s what I’m here for – to test out these things first so that you don’t have to be the guinea pig. I obviously can’t be sure of what else is in these and whether it would react with your skin or not. I like them, but they might disagree with you.
Have you tried lip masks before?
