I have been loving both of these new blurring primers for weeks now. Over the last year I have really noticed an increased visibility of my pores (I think due to age), so anything that minimises them and makes my skin look airbrushed is a winner for me.
If you haven’t heard of the Milk Makeup Blur Stick ($36 from Sephora), where have you been?! It launched in January and beauty experts have been raving about it ever since. All you need to do to see its powers in action is to rub the stick over the back of your hand on one half – you’ll be amazed by how it literally blurs away dimples, lines and imperfections to make that half of your hand look photoshopped.
In the stick it looks like it’s tan-coloured, but it’s actually a universal clear shade that works on all skin tones and colours. It makes your skin feel very soft and smooth, but it’s actually silicone-free and oil-free, so it doesn’t clog pores. It really minimises the appearance of my pores and just makes the skin on my face look more universally flawless. I find it a great base for makeup too. This is a real star product.
A recent launch from Murad is their Invisiblur Perfecting Shield Broad Spectrum SPF 30 (£55 from Murad). This comes as a clear gel that you pump out of the bottle. It’s a pricey product, but it’s worth it. This is perfect to wear on its own as a skin-perfecting SPF or as a primer under makeup. It is silicone-based, so if you don’t like the feeling on your skin of the likes of Benefit’s Porefessional, this probably isn’t a product for you.
Apply it all over your face for a soft-focus, airbrushed, matte look to the skin. It really improves the texture of your skin; leaving it smooth with minimised lines and pores, and it is a great base for flawless makeup too. Not only that, but it also contains anti-ageing, collagen-stimulating ingredients and ingredients that help your skin to attract and retain moisture. It’s the perfect daily SPF, primer, skin perfector and skincare treatment in one.
