Kiko aren’t slow at releasing new collections, so not that long after the last one, I have a new range to share with you. This bright and colourful capsule makeup collection has been designed and released in honour of Kiko Milano’s 20th anniversary. It has been designed in collaboration with fashion designer Arthur Arbesser, and features an array of neon shades and bright pops of colour.
I love the vibrant packaging and shades in this collection – it’s perfect for summer and festival season. My favourite item in the range is the eyeshadow palette – the Kiko Active Fluo Eyeshadow Palette* (£6.95 currently, from Kiko Milano) is a real bargain and contains six highly pigmented, matte eyeshadows in an array of eye-popping brights. If these shades seem to scary to wear all over your lids, try just applying some to your inner corners or along your lower lash line.
I also love the Active Fluo Neon Lip & Body Pencils* (£2.95 currently). These are so versatile and can be used to draw designs on your skin, or work as lip liners and eye liners. I have two of the three shades – 01 Stronger Coral (the tip snapped off) and 02 Powerful Fuchsia, and these match the corresponding lipsticks well. I’ve been using these mostly as eyeliner along my lower waterline however, and I really like the effect of this.
I’ve also been testing out the Kiko Active Fluo Neon Eye Pencil* (£2.95 currently), which comes in one shade – black. As black eyeliner pencils go, this is a fairly decent one – it’s pigmented, can be smoked out and applies softly and creamily. What makes it interesting though is the fact that it turns fluorescent under UV light. Rave anyone?
Another product in the collection that does this is the nail polish. Being short of a UV light, I couldn’t test this out; but I’m assured it works. This polish is basically a top coat that applies clear and goes over any of your existing nail varnishes. The Kiko Active Fluo Neon Nail Lacquer* (£1.95 currently) would only be of benefit to you if think you’ll find yourself in any nightclubs or under any UV lamps.
I love the lipsticks in the collection and will definitely be rocking these this summer. I have shades 01 and 02 again (in reverse order un-helpfully in the photos above), of the Active Fluo Neon Lipsticks* (£3.45 currently) and they are real head-turners. They are matte, comfortable, incredibly pigmented and very vibrant. You definitely won’t go unnoticed with one of these on.
The only product from the collection that I don’t like is the Kiko Active Fluo Face Primer* (£5.45 currently). This comes out of the tube coral, but turns clear when rubbed into the skin. It’s a mattifying primer with a very silicone-y texture – I don’t like the feeling of it. I also don’t think that it does anything the improve the longevity of any makeup put on top either.
Would you rock these bright shades?
