Bobbi Brown are one of my favourite brands, so I’m so excited to be able to share my thoughts on all their latest makeup and skincare launches with you. I’ve been trying out the cushion foundation, full coverage concealer, shimmery glow stick and there’s some stunning new eyeshadow palettes out for summer.
Let’s look at the makeup base products first. The Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Cushion Compact SPF 30* (£36 from Bobbi Brown) is a cushion foundation that comes in 9 shades. I use the lightest – Porcelain. It’s a very natural, light coverage that still allows your own skin to come through. The cushion design protects the foundation formula from the air and protects its skin boosting ingredients – including caffeine. It’s moisturising and has UV protection too.
I don’t use the sponge that comes with it (does anyone?!), but I use a beauty blender sponge instead. Using a sponge keeps the coverage quite light; although you can get a heavier coverage by applying with a foundation brush. If you like really full coverage foundations, this one won’t be for you; but if you want a glowy finish that’s still very much you, give this a try. You can go in and cover up any particular imperfections more with concealer. The swatch above is the foundation followed by the new concealer.
Talking of the concealer, I’ve also been using the new Bobbi Brown Instant Full Coverage Concealer in Porcelain* (£23). I think there might be something wrong with my one though as it was very thick and dry. When I watched it being applied on YouTube, it was very fluid. I just added a few drops of Hyaluronic Acid to mine and it seems to have sorted it. You do get good coverage with this, but it’s not my favourite concealer. The concealers come in the same shades as Bobbi Brown foundation, so that you can match them. It’s brightening, lightweight and doesn’t crease. It also contains ingredients to plump the under-eye skin to reduce signs of ageing. If you have stubborn dark circles however, this won’t cover them on its own.
Bobbi Brown also launched an amazing glow stick as part of their recent Follow The Sun collection. The Bobbi Brown Glow Stick* (£26) is designed to give you a glowy, golden beach look, and it comes in 9 shades. I have Sunkissed – a deep gold. I like to apply this to my cheekbones and forehead instead of blusher and bronzer, for a golden, shimmery, radiant highlight. It melts onto the skin and doesn’t disturb your base products underneath. I love this for summer.
My favourite of all the latest Bobbi Brown releases are the Peace, Love, Beach Limited Edition Eyeshadow Trios* (£29). I have the Love trio and the Beach trio, and I adore them. Love is the darker of the two. It contains three shades – a brown-toned metallic bronze Driftwood, a glittery gold Oyster, and a dark gold shimmer called Sandy. Peace is a lot more yellow-toned and golden. In it is the metallic dark gold Tiki, the pale gold glitter Sandcastle, and the yellow gold shimmer Sunset. The eyeshadows are so creamy and pigmented – these swatches are literally just one swipe with my finger. They look stunning on the eyes and you can keep them as intense as this, or blend them out easily. The Beach trio is my favourite and i’ve been wearing it so much.
Finally, there’s a new skincare release. The Bobbi Brown Remedies Skin Treatment No.25* (£28.50) is a wrinkle treatment serum that fills and smoothes lines, and stimulates collagen production; using natural ingredients such as Mukal Myrrh Tree Root Extract to plump the skin, and Mimosa Tree Extract to stimulate your skin’s collagen. Team this with soft focus powders and hydrators to further plump the skin and minimise the appearance of lines, and you have a very effective product. This is my serum of choice at the moment and it’s working well for me.
Have you tried any of these products?
