Superdrug have had their own cruelty-free, vegan makeup range for a while now, but I hadn’t got round to trying it until I picked up these items – spurred on by their recent collaboration with makeup artist Cassie Lomas. If you have a cruelty-free beauty regime, it’s hard to find affordable/drugstore products that aren’t sold in China or owned by parent companies who sell in China. B. Makeup from Superdrug is a great, good quality option for you. I picked up a selection of their products to try, so that I could show you how they perform.
Let’s start with their recent collaboration with Cassie Lomas. There are eight products in the Cassie Lomas Collection and I have the B. Cassie Lomas Sheer Liquid Illuminator (£9.99) and the B. Cassie Lomas Matte Liquid Lipstick in All About Me (£6.99). Her collection is all about having fun in the sun, and the bronzed, radiant look. The illuminator is just beautiful and very light in texture. You could dab this onto your cheekbones over your base, but I like to put it all over my face before foundation (to give a lit from within look), or mix it in with my foundation to add more glow.
As well as the B. Cassie Lomas nude liquid lipstick, I also picked up another nude shade from the main B. Makeup range. B. Cassie Lomas Matte Liquid Lipstick in All About Me is the lighter, more orange-toned of the two, and the B. Makeup Matte Liquid Lipstick in In The Buff (£6.99) is the darker brown shade. Neither of these suit my extremely pale skin, but I think the Cassie Lomas shade would look great on very tanned skin, and the brown nude is definitely meant to those with dark skin. The formula of these though, is really nice. They are very pigmented, apply smoothly and dry quickly to a velvet finish. Most importantly, they feel comfortable on the lips and don’t dry them out too much (you will get some dryness as they are matte).
The final matte liquid lipstick shade I got was a bright fushcia pink (called Frolicked). This is really bright and eye-catching, so is perfect for summer. These liquid lipsticks don’t start to flake off and they do have a decent wear time of a few hours before you need to put some more on. If you eat though, expect to have to make a few touch-ups.
I also picked up two lipsticks – the B. Luminous Lipstick in Suis Moi (£6.99) and the B. Luminous Lipstick in Mrs Jones(£6.99). These are quite sheer lipsticks – you do get good colour payoff, but you can still see your own lips underneath. They actually apply, and feel, more like a tinted lip balm, as they contain Jojoba Seed Oil to hydrate your lips and give them a bit of shine. Suis Moi is a purple-toned dark berry shade, and Mrs Jones is a bubblegum pink shade.
Finally, I wanted to try some of the B. Lip & Cheek Tints (£7.99), as I do love the freshness and dewiness of a cream blush in the summer months. I love the clear window packaging on these. I got two shades – Say My Name (a deep brown coral) and Just a Kiss (a rosy pink). I really like both of these shades, but I think the formula isn’t right for the lips, so I’ll just keep these as blushers. To me these have a cream to powder formula that’s lovely on the cheeks and blends out so nicely; but on the lips they just don’t work as they are too ‘powdery’.
What B. Makeup products do you use and love?
