This week’s Face Mask Friday post is a review of the Masque Bar Lavender Peel-Off Modeling Mask* (£4.95 from Beauty Mart). This is such a fun mask to do, and it’s effective too.
This is a typical rubberising mask – it’s a powder that comes in a pot, and you add the specified amount of water and mix into a thick paste. You need to work fairly quickly so that it doesn’t start hardening before you have spread it on your face. With this one, you get far too much product – I used less than half of the paste to cover my face with a thick layer. These types of masks are a pain to mix up and a mess to take off, but they are really enjoyable to use. Peeling them off feels so good!
The paste is very cooling on the skin and it takes around 15-20 minutes to completely turn to rubber. You then peel this off of your skin and wipe off any excess stuck bits with a damp muslin cloth. When you remove the mask, your face feels very firm, plump and contoured, as well as being very soft and smooth. It makes your skin look healthier and more alive. I thought that the lavender aspect might make it relaxing too and good for use before bed, but it doesn’t really have a strong scent, and the light floral scent it does have, doesn’t smell much of my favourite relaxing fragrance. I’d use this mask in the morning before your normal skincare routine, especially on the day of an important occassion.
Have you tried a modeling or rubberising mask before? What did you think?
