I’m back! In my first blog post in two weeks (as I’ve been on holiday and then started work on a feature film), I wanted to share some new Bobbi Brown products, that I’ve been really enjoying using, with you. There are some cool, new sparkly cream eyeshadow sticks, and a gorgeous summer collection.Let’s start with a look at the new Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Sparkle Sticks* (£23 from Bobbi Brown). These are multi-dimensional, high-shimmer cream eyeshadow sticks that you can quickly just draw onto your lid then smudge with your finger or blend out with a brush. They have unique water-based gel technology that makes them budge-proof, and actually feel quite cooling on the eyes.
There are 9 available shades of the Sparkle Sticks, and i’ve been trying out 3 of them – (left to right) Sapphire Blue (a steely blue with silver and blue glitter), Galactic (a gold with multi-coloured glitter) and Tanzanite (a pink with pink glitter). These are such a quick way to get a really eye-catching eye look and within 10-20 seconds they just won’t smudge.
Bobbi Brown have also launched a Dreaming of Capri collection that has real summer vibes; envoking the sunny coast of the Mediterranean. The collection features a 9-shade eyeshadow palette, two dual-ended liquid eyeliners, an illuminating primer/body shimmer, a nail polish, a lipstick and a mascara. I’ve been trying out 3 key pieces from the collection, and these are definitely the 3 most interesting and worth picking up.The Bobbi Brown Dreaming of Capri Nudes Eyeshadow Palette* (£49.50 from Bobbi Brown) is a heavily-weighted 9-shade palette, with a mix of shimmers, metallics and matte shades. The shades (from top left to bottom right) are Cream (a matte cream), Slate (a matte taupe), Maple Sugar (a shimmery caramel), Pebble (a shimmery silver), Champagne Quartz (a shimmery peach), Caviar (a matte brown-black), Nude Glow (a shimmery cream), Oyster (a metallic gold) and Rich Navy (a matte navy blue).
The quality and pigmentation of these shadows is great, but I would have liked a bit more variety amongst the paler shades as they are all too similar and much of a muchness, which is a shame. There is quite a bit of fallout with these shadows, so just be careful if you are doing your eyes after your base. They are really long-lasting however, and blend beautifully.
There is also a limited edition Bobbi Brown All Over Glow in the collection. The Bobbi Brown All Over Glow in shade Sole* (£29) is currently sold out on the Bobbi Brown website, but you might be able to still pick one up at your local counter. This is a slightly tacky-in-feel (despite the website saying it isn’t), golden, peachy, shimmering gel that you can use all over your face or body. It has a really stunning lit-from-within glow and illumination that you can use to accentuate your shoulders, cheekbones and other light-reflective areas. It is infused with Squalene to really moisturise and hydrate the skin, and leaves your skin feeling really soft; albeit ever so slightly tacky. This is so pretty that I’m prepared to put up with that, but I probably will use it more on the body than on the face.
The other product from the collection that i’ve been trying is the new limited edition Dual-Ended Long Wear Liquid Liners* (£28 from Bobbi Brown). There are two dual colourways available, and I have the shade Cioccolato (metallic brown-black) with the shade Frizzante (metallic brown). These are so pigmented and statement-making in just one swipe, and they are designed to have 12-hour wear, and to be water, sweat and humidity-resistant. They have such a sharp, precision brush too; meaning that you can get right into the lashline for a thin, sharp line. I love these and they look stunning on.
