Over the past few weeks, I’ve really updated my skincare routine and switched all my products up; so I wanted to introduce you to what I’m currently using. I haven’t been using my current line-up of products for long, but I’m really happy with them and my skin is loving it.I start the mornings off by cleansing my skin with a gel or cream cleanser. I use so many, and they have all been featured on the blog before. However, I’ve recently added in a new cleansing and facial massage device. The BeGlow TIA All-in-One Sonic Skincare System* (£199 from Look Fantastic) is a brand new product and I love it. It’s so ergonomically shaped, so it’s so comfortable to hold. One side has a gentle, pulsating silicone brush to use with your cleanser to cleanse your skin, and the other end has a massaging titanium plate to help reduce puffiness and improve circulation. It also has a cool ‘lifting’ and contouring function that you can use to target areas such as your neck or chin. The low and high frequency pulsations of this device, also help to increase the strength and definition of facial muscles. It comes with a cute little dustbag to keep it in, and it’s easily recharged.
After cleansing, I wipe over my skin with the Alpha H Liquid Gold Rose* (£37 from Cult Beauty). You’re not supposed to use this every day, but my skin loves it, so I do. It’s an acid toner that contains Glycolic Acid to resurface the skin and stimulate collagen production. It also contains Hyaluronic Acid for hydration, and various skin softening and anti-inflammatory ingredients, such as rose and liquorice root extract. It really helps to keep my skin smooth, blemish-free and bright.Next, I apply two serums to my skin. I start with the new Filorga Lift Designer Ultra-Lifting Serum* (£65 from Look Fantastic) is an anti-ageing and skin lifting serum. It has definitely made my skin feel more lifted and firmer after just a few weeks of use. It contains Plasmatic Lifting Factors®, ultra-tightening active agents, collagen and Hyaluronic Acid to visibly tighten, plump the skin and sculpt the face. These ingredients are then teamed with a cooling, metal roll-on applicator which stimulates skin tissues for a lifting effect. I apply this in an upwards motion to help to sculpt my face.
I then follow this with a very light and hydrating serum, before applying my eye cream and moisturiser. The Shiseido WASO Fresh Jelly Lotion* (£25 from John Lewis). It’s a gel-to-liquid that contains White Jelly Mushroom to deliver intense moisture and really plump the skin. It also helps to optimise skin’s pH balance. The White Jelly Mushroom has long been used in Japan in skincare as a deeply moisturising ingredient. Like a sponge does, it holds onto water and then bounces back to its plump, just-picked state when soaked. I like to apply this as an extra layer of moisture between my main serum and my moisturiser to really plump my skin and give it a dewy finish.
The moisturiser that I use in the mornings is the new GlamGlow Waterburst Hydrated Glow Moisturiser* (£39 from Boots). This is a light, cooling gel moisturiser that promises to deliver 72 hours of instant and continuous hydration deep into the skin. It contains a Triple Hyaluronic Acid Complex (so different sized molecules) to get deep into the skin. It also contains water from the volcanic Island of Jeju, and skin-quenching TEAOXI® Blue Nymph Lily Extract, to leave your skin plump and glowing. I’m not so keen on the artificial ‘oceanic’ smell of this, but I put up with it as I love the results.
Finally, I apply my eye cream – the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair Eye Concentrate Matrix* (£49 from Estee Lauder). I love this, but I hate the glass stick applicator. It’s supposed to be cooling on the eyes, but it’s just so difficult and messy to use and dispense product with. It combines Estee Lauder’s plumping, energising and awakening 360° Matrix Technology, with Hyaluronic Acid to hydrate and plump out fine lines and wrinkles. This really hydrates my eye area and makes my eyes look more refreshed and awake. It’s a very light gel-cream and it absorbs beautifully.
At night, I switch out the Filorga Lift Designer Ultra-Lifting Serum for The Ordinary’s 2% Granactive Retinoid in Squalane (£7.75 from Beauty Bay). I love to use a 2% Retinol at night as it has really transformed my skin – it’s a lot smoother, firmer and more even. This is a low-irritation serum that delivers all of the benefits of Retinols. It fades dark spots and pigmentation, it treats acne and blemishes, it helps to reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles, and it stimulates collagen production. It’s the only truly scientifically-proven anti-ageing ingredient, so I have to have it in my routine. Using this means that I need to use an SPF, so I make sure that I use a foundation with SPF, or I apply a facial SPF before applying my makeup.
Also, at night, I switch out my GlamGlow Waterburst for a night cream. I’ve really been enjoying using the Filorga Sleep & Lift Ultra-Lifting Night Cream* (£65 from Feel Unique). Like the matching serum, it’s designed to lift and firm the skin whilst you sleep. It’s formulated with active ingredients derived from aesthetic procedures – Plasmatic Lifting Factors® visibly tighten the features, plump the skin and sculpt the face; and an amino acid duo regenerates the skin to restore its elasticity overnight. It all sounds very scientific, but it actually does make my face look firmer and less saggy (especially around my chin).
As you know, I do this skincare routine alongside the application of hundreds of different face masks – at least one per day if i’m working at home and I can manage it. I’m a sheet mask addict, but I also love a good purifying clay mask every so often.
You can see more of what I’m loving, and what I’m doing, over on my Instagram.
