This is my first post back in a couple of weeks. I’m sorry for being MIA for so long, but i’m hoping to get this blog back to normal now; so there will be lots of new content for you to read over the next few weeks. I’ve returned to working in TV and film production, alongside running my beloved A Life With Frills blog; so i’m going to have to learn to be smarter with scheduling so that you guys don’t notice much of a difference in output. I had wanted to do this post a lot closer to my return from New York, but it’s coming to you now. Delaying it has actually allowed me to try all these products out for a good 6 weeks before sharing my thoughts on them with you. From fragrance, to makeup and skincare, these are 5 US beauty buys that you need to get your hands on.Bath & Body Works Waikiki Beach Coconut Fine Fragrance Mist – $14.50, Bath & Body Works
This fragrance smells amazing – like a Hawaiian tropical holiday in a bottle – and it’s such great value for money as you get a huge bottle. This isn’t as potent a fragrance as an Eau de Toilette, so you will need to re-apply it a few times throughout the day; but it smells so good, so what’s not to love?! It’s a blend of beach coconut, pink passionflower, saltwater breeze, fresh bamboo and sun-bleached woods. The formula also contains conditioning aloe to soothe your skin. If you aren’t lucky enough to be able to escape to a far-flung place this summer, this is the next best thing.Physicians Formula Refreshmint Cucumber & Bamboo Eye De-Puffer – $9.95, Physician’s Formula
This is such a great, cooling eye stick. I keep it on my desk and use it throughout the day when i’m feeling tired or too hot. You roll it over your under-eyes, brows and forehead to make you feel refreshed and awake. It hydrates the skin (via bamboo shoot and glacial mineral water) it cools (via peppermint), and it soothes and de-puffs (via cucumber and aloe vera). You can also use it over makeup and it won’t disturb it. Such a handy and enjoyable product to have on hand!
Sephora Coconut Face Mask – $6, Sephora
Sephora have expanded their range of sheet masks and have introduced a Coconut mask. Anything coconut, and i’m in for giving it a try. This mask smells so nice, and it’s designed to nourish and soothe the skin, reduce facial redness and make dry, tight skin feel a lot more comfortable. It really softens and moisturises the skin, and it’s a great choice if you’ve been out in the sun all day, or just suffer with dry or de-hydrated skin. The mask fits snuggly on your face too, so it’s very comfortable to wear and easy to move about with.Milani Hypnotic Lights Holographic Lip Topper in 01 Luster Light – $11, Milani Cosmetics
This new release from Milani really sparkles, and makes any lipstick or gloss that you put it on top of look incredible and so summery. This shade is a shimmering rose gold with pink and gold glitter. I like wearing this on it’s own too, over some lip balm, to give my lips a golden, sun-kissed iridescent glow. It’s not drying on the lips, and is so comfortable to wear; containing no annoying chunks of glitter. If you don’t want shimmer all over your lips, try just applying it on the centre of your bottom lip, where the light hits.Physician’s Formula Butter Highlighter in Iridescence – $10.95, Physician’s Formula
This is quite powdery and has a lot of fallout, so you need to apply it sparingly. When you blend it into the skin however, it looks so creamy and buttery. This is a great shade for pale skin, or for highlighting the inner corners of your eyes. The formula contains Murumuru Butter, Cupuacu Butter and Tucuma Butter for a creamy finish despite the fact it’s a powder. It contains anti-ageing and skin-conditioning ingredients to care for your skin whilst giving it a beautiful soft glow – via mica and natural silica light-diffusing and skin-smoothing particles. The wave design in the pan makes you want to just dive right in!
