It’s time for my June favourites, and I’m combining beauty, with fashion and lifestyle this time. I’ve been so busy recently, so apologies for the shortage of new posts. This will improve once I get used to how my life has completely changed. I have an amazing job in TV that I do alongside running this blog, and I’ve met an amazing man who I care about a lot. Add all the sunshine to this, and I’ve been a very happy girl. For my June favourites, there’s a great mix of things – from makeup, to style accessories and bedding.
Let’s start with fashion. I don’t like to show the top of my arms if I can avoid it, so having light cover-ups for when it’s too warm to wear a jacket, is great. This thin lace jacket from Damart (£25) looks so pretty and it’s a perfect colour for sunny summer days. I like wearing it with both leggings and jeans.Another fashion item that I’ve also been loving throughout June are a pair of amazing statement sunglasses that MVMT sent me. The Marquee in Matte Nude Havana Grey Gradient sunglasses* (£55 from MVMT) also come in a variety of different colours, but I’ve been finding that these ones go with everything. There’s a photo of me wearing them over on my Instagram. These are such great quality sunglasses, and I love all the gold detailing on them.
The next items I’ve been loving could come under both the home and beauty categories. Sleeping on a pure silk pillowcase is so good for your skin and your hair. With your hair, you’ll get less breakage during the night as there isn’t so much friction going on between your head and your pillow. It also helps to keep your hair smooth and static-free. As far as your skin is concerned, a silk pillowcase doesn’t tug on your skin as much as one made from a different material. You also won’t wake up with those annoying sleep lines and indentations on your face. This beautiful blue silk pillowcase is the one that I’ve been using recently and I love it – it’s part of the new SLIP Travel Set (£119 from SLIP), along with a soft, silk eye mask.
Onto beauty! I’ve been using new makeup brushes and they’re great. Contour Cosmetics have recently introduced brush personalisation, so I now have a set of their makeup brushes with my blog name on the handle. The Contour Cosmetics Make Your Mark 4-Piece Brush Set* (£20 from Contour Cosmetics) would make a great gift for a beauty lover. They’re so pretty, and so soft too!
I’ve been obsessed with two fragrances throughout June, and I don’t see them dropping out of my perfume rotation any time soon. The Jo Malone Jasmine Sambac & Marigold Cologne Intense* (£75 from Selfridges) is a very powerful fragrance, and I’m so glad that I can wear it without getting my usual fragrance headaches. It’s inspired by the Middle East, and is a warm, deep scent. I’ve also been loving the very floral Atkinsons The Nuptial Bouquet* (£100 from House of Fraser), which was designed for Queen Victoria. It’s quite a classic, almost old-fashioned floral; but it’s a very classy and chic scent.
Most days, I always have a lip gloss on instead of a lipstick. Recently I’ve been loving the new lip glosses from the limited edition Kiko Jelly Jungle collection – a collection enriched with superfruits. The Jelly Jungle Lip Gloss* (£4.40 from Kiko) has a 3D, shimmery effect, and is infused with antioxidant-rich pomegranate extract too. It also has a lovely vanilla scent. My favourite shade is Juicy Purple.
Finally, I went away for the night to a spa in Ayrshire with my best and oldest friend. It has an amazing ESPA spa in it, so I took along the ESPA Beauty Explorer Collection* (£65 from ESPA) for some extra in-room pampering. I love the plant-based, botanical scents of ESPA products, and this kit gives your everything you could possibly need for a weekend away – from hair masks, to shampoo and a facial cleanser. The travel-size products also come in a beautiful, leather-look case, that has lots of room for all your other cosmetics too.
This post contains press samples, but all opinions are my own.
