As you’ll have seen from my Instagram at the beginning of last month, I went off to Lanzarote with David for a week of winter sun. We had a great time, and there’s a post all about our holiday coming shortly. Here though, I want to share with you all the skincare products that I used while away. Aren’t travel miniatures so handy?!Let’s start with what I took on board the plane. It was actually a longer flight than I thought – 4 hours – but the Canary Islands are just off the coast of Africa. I always take First Defence on board and spray it up my nose as soon as I sit down – before they switch on the germ-spreading air-con. I also use this again midway. Around the inside of my nose I apply the antibiotic ointment Neosporin that you can buy in the US. This might sound like a lot of fuss, but once you’ve had a holiday ruined by catching something on the plane, you’ll never make that mistake twice. As you can also imagine, I also take antibacterial hand gel too, for use throughout the flight. Other than that, for a flight this length, I only took a miniature cooling moisturiser (Skyn Iceland The Antidote Cooling Lotion) and a trusty EOS lip balm.
Now, on with the skincare – for use during my holiday (other than lots of generic body SPF lotion) was the Sk:n Clinics SPF 30 Sunscreen Sunscreen that protects you from UVA and UVB rays, and has been specifically formulated for use on your face. I also usually applied the Murad Invisiblur Perfecting Shield too, which is also broad-spectrum SPF 30.I also took a lot of face masks on holiday with me – the Masque Bar Aloe Vera After-Sun Bio-Cellulose Mask sheet masks are great to soothe and re-hydrate your face after a day in the sun, and I loved using the Peter Thomas Roth 24K Gold Mask and Cucumber Gel Mask in the mornings to plump my skin before applying any sunscreen and makeup. For my eyes, I used one of my most favourite eye masks – the Murad Eye Lift Firming Treatment.
To remove my makeup or SPF products at the end of my day, I used the Alpha H Essential Cleansing Balm. This balm cleanser smells so relaxing, and contains a mix of essential oils, Sea Buckthorn, Rose Hip and Geranium. It leaves your skin feeling so soft, plump and clean. I used this with the Foreo Luna Mini 2 to ensure a deep clean.
Other skincare items I took were the ESPA, Hydrating Floral Spafresh facial mist, ESPA Optimal Skin ProMoisturiser and Murad Renewing Eye Cream for morning and evening use, then the ESPA Optimal Skin ProSerum to add into my evening routine for some extra skin nourishment. I also had a miniature Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream on hand for any dry or irritated skin emergencies e.g. when I got an insect bite of some sort on my wrist.
The deodorant I used was the Nivea Black & White Invisible, and the fragrance I took was the tropical coconut Hawaiian Tropic Golden Paradise Fragrance Mist. It smells like a Pina Colada, and I certainly drank a lot of those while I was away!
You can see more of what i’m loving, and what i’m doing, over on my Instagram.
