I am finding that I am watching more TV on streaming services such as Netflix, Now TV and Amazon Prime than I am on terrestrial or satellite channels. There are some amazing shows that I’ve really enjoyed lately, so I wanted to share them with you.
To use streaming services, you need a good broadband connection, otherwise the shows will buffer when you watch them. We had such internet problems when we moved into our new flat as we chose a provider our letting agent recommended and they are terrible. We were without broadband for weeks, and the router is not the best either. There are so many broadband deals available, so definitely look around to see all the options available and look at reviews etc before signing up to a contract. Then all you have to do is pay the bargain subscription price every month to Netflix, hayu or Now TV etc and you are good to go.
You – Netflix
‘You’ is a creepy drama, that has just been commissioned for a second season. It stars Penn Badgley (Dan Humphries) from Gossip Girl, Elizabeth Lail, and Shay Mitchell (Emily Fields) from Pretty Little Liars. Joe works in a bookstore, and he is immediately attracted to and intrigued by a customer Beck. In his disturbed mind, he decides that Beck is attracted to him too. He begins stalking her and does everything he can to make Beck his – including eliminating Beck’s lovers and friends. With each episode, this drama gets more extreme, but addictive. It’s definitely one to watch, but not when you’re home alone!
Grace & Frankie – Netflix
I’ve spoken about ‘Grace & Frankie’ before. It’s one of my favourite TV shows of all time. There are four seasons on Netflix and the fifth is coming soon. It stars legends Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin as two friends who live together to support each other after their husbands reveal they have been having an affair with each other. It’s a gentle comedy and I adore it. Lily Tomlin as Frankie is so funny, and I’ve fallen in love with the characters as they ‘battle’ with each other. It’s such a comforting watch – like a warm hug. Once you start watching, you won’t be able to stop.
The Truth About the Harry Quebert Affair – Now TV
’The Truth About the Harry Quebert Affair’ is an adaptation of a murder mystery/thriller novel by Joel Dicker and was on the Sky Witness channel. It stars Patrick Dempsey as Harry Quebert – a writer who is suspected of murdering a young girl after her body is discovered on his land. There are 10 episodes that follow the journey of proving his innocence, while more details about his involvement with the girl are revealed. It’s a really gripping drama, and it’s another one of those shows that you will find yourself binge-watching as you won’t be able to resist seeing what happens next.
