It’s the start of 2019, and we always like to make plans to brighten up our homes and our lives at this time of year. As I’ve not long moved into a new flat, I’m constantly browsing homeware, home accessories and furniture stores online. There are so many amazing pieces available. I’ve picked out some of my favourite chic and stylish pieces, for every room, to inspire you.Bathroom
Purple Round 3-litre Bathroom Pedal Bin, £19.99, Victoria Plum | Amtico Signature Shore Oak Wood Tiles, £POA, Amtico | Mercer41 Ponti Accent Mirror, £93.99, Wayfair | Elements Bamboo Extendable Bath Rack, £25, Dunelm | Very Hello Lovely Bath Mat, £19, Very
I love my bathroom to be a comfortable, light and happy space. Wooden floors are essential for the look I love too. My bathroom is always full of beauty products, so any extra storage space or mirrors are always high on my list of bathroom priorities. A bin is essential too – for all those discarded cotton pads. This purple one would add an interesting bit of colour to the room. I like to hang inspirational messages in my bathroom too. Currently I have ‘Smile More’ above the sink, and ‘Be a Flamingo’ on the windowsill. I love this ‘Hello lovely’ bathmat – I’d love to be greeted by that in the morning.
Living Room
Richmond 2-drawer Coffee Table, £229.99, The Range | Argos Home Rural Retreat Artificial Fern House Plant, £6, Argos | Debenhams Home Collection Green Flamingo Cushion, £16.80, Debenhams | Sterling Furniture Kain Armchair, £949, Sterling Furniture | Desenio Prada Poster, from £2.95, Desenio
My living room has very high ceilings and an elaborate fireplace that’s typical of original Glasgow tenements, therefore I like to keep the decor quite classic and muted. Hints of colour in things like cushions is perfect, and I like to add a modern touch with lots of copper/rose gold. I have a Vogue illustration in my living room to show my love for fashion, and I’d love this Prada print to continue in this vein.
Bedroom
John Lewis Croft Collection Double Linen Basket in Grey, £150, John Lewis | Marks & Spencer Day Dreamer Slogan Pillowcase, £7.50, Marks & Spencer | David Fussenegger Nova Herringbone Throw, £63, Heals | MADE Alana Bedside Table, £99, MADE | Bothy Blue Rose Gold Lantern String Lights, £12, Bothy Blue
Again, my bedroom has classic high ceilings and muted pale white and grey walls, but the room is very plain, so I can be a lot more experimental with colour. I actually have these pillowcases and I adore them as they are a great bright pop of colour. I like to continue the copper/rose look accessories in this room too.
Kitchen
Premier Housewares 31cm Marble Chopping Board, £15.99, Wayfair | Habitat Gold Finish Honeycomb 7-bottle Wine Rack, £17.50, Habitat | Cult Studio Teal Heather Bar Stool with Backrest, £119, Cult Furniture | Wilko Pedal Bin Copper Effect 30L, £16, Wilko | Finlay & Noa Forex Bon Appetit Poster, £23.95, Poster Lounge
My kitchen is very rustic and classic of a Glasgow tenement, but I am still always drawn to marble and copper accessories. The room is probably a bit of a contrast now, but my ideal kitchen style is definitely more of this modern, minimalist vein. I love the idea of adding bar stools to make more use out of my worktops as a breakfast bar. This teal colour is stunning too.
