I am obsessed with Korean beauty, as I love their clear, flawless ‘glass skin’ look. I am also addicted to face masks, so Korean face masks are always going to excite me. Avon have a whole range of Korean beauty face masks*, that have been inspired by Korean beauty, and created in South Korea for Avon Cosmetics.Sugar Maple Glass Effect Hydrogel Mask* – £3.50, Avon
Strangely, these masks aren’t currently on sale on the Avon website, but they may be in the catalogue. There is also plenty of them on Ebay at the moment.
Anything that says glass skin is immediately sold to me! I love the plump, healthy, clear skin look, that looks like skin and not makeup. This mask is a hydrogel mask, so feels like a very thin gel-like mask. This allows the ingredients to penetrate this skin better than a standard fibre mask. It contains oils and butters than moisturise your skin and give it that luminous look. It also contains Sugar Maple as it’s hero ingredient – a natural AHA to exfoliate away dead skin cells. This mask does exactly what it says on the tin, and I love how hydrated and healthy it makes my skin look. Definitely a bargain mask that i’ll pick up again for sure.Avon Cica Soothing Sheet Mask* – £3.50, Avon
This is a traditional fibre sheet mask that designed to soothe the skin – perfect for these current heatwave days when our skin gets stressed and red. It contains lavender, peppermint, rosemary and flower extracts, which seems to go against the ‘soothing claims’, but it really does calm and refresh (via the peppermint) my skin. If you have sensitive skin, you might want to stay clear of this mask due to the lavender and flower extracts which may irritate, but for me it soothes and cools brilliantly.Avon Golden Mushroom Sleep Mask* – £6, Avon
This mask isn’t one that I love. It has the texture of a thick night cream, and for me, it didn’t do anything more than a standard night cream does. It moisturised and made my skin feel soft, but it didn’t deliver any exceptional results that I would expect from a ‘mask’. I applied a generous layer of this in bed over a couple of weeks. My skin soaked it up quite quickly, and in the morning, my skin felt nice, but nothing worth shouting about.
It’s key ingredient is mushrooms, to fight inflammation, and it also contains antioxidants to fight against environmental damage and free radicals. There’s vitamin D too, to nourish your skin as you sleep. Good, but not great.Avon Jelly Kiss Lip Mask* – £2.75, Avon
My lip mask came out of the packet torn, so Avon might have some quality control issues here. I used what I could of it, and it did soften my lips temporarily, making it a good pre-lipstick lip-prepping trick. The mask is a very thin gel-like texture and you wear it over your lips for 15-20 minutes to hydrate and soften them via its wonder Manuka Honey ingredient. This is a good date night essential for kissable soft lips. The softness will be gone by the morning though!
Avon Gold Hydrogel Eye Mask* – £2.75, Avon
Yes, gold has great anti-ageing properties for the skin, but you aren’t really going to get these from some eye masks as the effect would be minuscule. The gold aspect of these is a bit of a gimmick, so just treat them as line plumping and hydrating under-eye masks. They will reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by giving the skin a dose of plumping hydration from Hyaluronic Acid. If you’ve had a late night, these will make your eyes look significantly better if you apply them when you wake up. These give good results for a totally bargain price. Put them in the fridge to enhance the effects!
