8 EASY GIFTS TO SEND OVERSEAS

    July 17, 2019 in LIFESTYLE
how to send a parcel abroad

One of my friends in New York has just had a baby, so i’ve been thinking about a gift for her and for the baby that would transport well, be small and light enough to not cost the earth to post, but also be something that she would really love. For the baby I got little woollen lamb slippers and a little dress. However, I wanted to share with you some of the gift ideas I had for my friend; incase you have someone abroad to buy for.

When you are posting overseas, it’s important to take size and weight into consideration much more so than in the UK. I use a handy service from Parcel2Go to safely send a parcel to the US and other countries, that allows me to calculate the postage before dropping off the parcel, so that I don’t get any nasty surprises.gift ideas for friends overseasSheet Masks Skincare

We all know that I’m obsessed with sheet masks, but they can make a great gift to send a friend abroad, as they are very slim and lightweight. They are also a nice treat to send someone, as it encourages them to take a bit of time out to pamper themselves – very much needed by new mums especially. On the high street, some of my favourite masks are the Garnier Moisture Bomb Masks, the Alex Steinherr x Primark Sheet Masks and the MasqueBar Metallic Foil Masks, and high-end skincare sheet masks that are my favourites are the 111Skin Sheet Masks. The masks mentioned here are all linked to reviews on my blog, so that you can find out more about each one.

    Chic Friendship Bracelet

Who doesn’t love getting jewellery as a gift, and a stylish, quality friendship bracelet not only is a nice piece of jewellery, but it’s a reminder to your friend that your friendship together can transcend distance. It’s a little reminder of you. I adore the Links of London Friendship Bracelets, and there are even some there that you can get engraved. Those are very much a luxury purchase, so if you are looking for a more affordable bracelet, the Annie Haak Friendship Bracelets are lovely.

    Adult Colouring Book & Pencils

Adult colouring is a really theraputic activity as it promotes relaxation – your mind is focussed on colouring in mesmerising designs neatly; and so distracting you from problems in real life. Sending a friend abroad a gift of an adult colouring book and coloured pencils is a great gift as it’s not only slim and lightweight, but it shows your friend that you care about their wellbeing. All bookshops, and lots of newsagents too, stock these.

    Name a Star

A great gift for a new mum overseas would be to name a star after the new baby. It’s a personalised gift with real meaning and thought behind it; but in practice, it’s also just a certificate to send in the mail. I think that a gift like this is really special, and not just for new mums – maybe you could name a star after the place you met your best friend, or after the restaurant your couple friends got engaged in. The naming ideas are endless!

    Luxury Cashmere Socks

I love warm and cosy socks all year round, as there’s something about putting them and your pyjamas on that’s so relaxing. A pair of luxury cashmere socks will last years and make a lovely gift for a friend, male or female. Pure Collection Cashmere Socks feel so soft and are available in a range of colours to suit all tastes.

    Journal & Pen Set

Another gift that promotes your friend taking some ‘me time’ is a journal and pen set. They could use it as a journal to write down the happenings of their day, or they could use it as a notebook to store ideas and future dreams. John Lewis have some great journals and pens at a variety of prices. They have designs that will suit every taste, and even have some with motivational quotes.

    Personalised Wall Calendar

If you are sending a gift to a friend who has moved overseas, a personalised calendar would be such a thoughtful and emotional gift. Each month could contain a photo of friends and family from home, or photos of their favourite places from home. Alternatively, you could get a personalised calendar for a friend, and put photos of their pets or family in each month – Facebook is a great way to obtain the images! Google ‘personalised wall calendars’ to find a design that you like, as there are hundreds of retailers out there doing these.

    Stylish Phone Case

If you know the type of mobile phone that your friend abroad has, you could get them a designed phone case for it. I am obsessed with the Kate Spade Phone Cases as I love this brand’s prints and designs.

You can see more of what I’m doing, and what I’m loving, over on my Instagram.
