This is one of 3 new face masks from L’Occitane, and it’s a fruit explosion in a jar. I’ve been using it this summer to soothe and soften my skin, and I think it’s a mask you’ll love. The L’Occitane Soothing Face Mask*** (£29 from L’Occitane) is packed full of blackcurrants, this mask smells absolutely amazing. It’s the colour of blackcurants, you can see seeds, and when you open it, you expect that fruity berry scent. You get it in abundance. It is so delicious to apply to your skin, and I found it really hard not to eat it. It has serious yogurt vibes!
Putting aesthetics to the side, this mask really does its job. I loved putting it on my skin after i’d been out in the sun all day, and I found that it really calmed, soothed and softened my skin. Sticking to the brand’s French origins, this mask is packed with freshly-picked blackcurrants from the Ardèche. It also contains minerals that support the skin’s basic functions – Magnesium and Calcium. Magnesium improves cellular processes, protects skin from UV damage, and calms down hormonal flare-ups and allergic reactions. It’s also great at tackling the severity of acne with its healing and calming properties. Calcium is also an important mineral – having a deficiency of calcium can cause premature aging of the skin, as calcium is vital for skin’s daily functions, such as regulating sebum, cell turnover, and maintaining the protective lipid barrier to keep moisture in place.Studies showed that 100% said the mask provides a feeling of softness to the skin (it does), 94% said it brings an immediate sensation of freshness (it does refresh and cool the skin – especially if you keep it in the fridge), and 100% reported that skin feels silky (it does leave it very soft).
You apply a thick layer to a clean face, and leave on for 5-minutes. I kept it on a lot longer than this mostly, and it definitely didn’t have any negative effects. To take it off, you just wipe with a wet flannel. I think that this is a mask that gives immediate soothing and softening benefits, rather than any long-term benefits, so keep it for when you’re skin needs that little bit of extra TLC. If you don’t want to shell out for the full 75ml size, you can buy 6mls for £4.50; which will give you at least a couple of uses.
