I’m getting married in 8 months!!! I’m so excited. So far, David and I have booked our wedding, invited the ceremony and post-ceremony lunch guests, and also booked our honeymoon (more on this later). I still need to plan all the style elements for our lunch and for my dress, hair and makeup. I also need to organise and design the party we are planning on having after our honeymoon. I’m going to be doing one wedding planning post per month, and I thought that a good starting point would be to choose my bridal fragrance. I’m so happy to have teamed up with one of my favourite luxury beauty brands for this – Jo Malone. They gifted me a bridal consultation and the products that I selected; which i’m so grateful for.My Mum and I began my first girly wedding planning day by having breakfast at the beautiful, new The Ivy restaurant in Glasgow. The decor is stunning and exactly my taste. I want to live there! The team at The Ivy surprised me with a lovely little raspberry tart that had a cute chocolate ‘congratulations’ plaque on it, to celebrate my engagement.
The breakfast menu at The Ivy Glasgow is full of delighful-sounding things, and there are a lot of healthy options. I opted for the Hot Buttermilk Pancakes (£8.95), which was three fluffy pancakes topped with strawberries, raspberries and blueberries, Greek yogurt, lemon balm, and a pourable warm strawberry sauce. They were SO good! I also had a Rosemary Lemonade (£3.50), which was just incredible, and so refreshing.
I can’t wait to go back to The Ivy and try out their lunch menu. It was the perfect stylish and relaxing place to go before my bridal consultation*** with the Jo Malone team at the Glasgow Buchanan Street store.
I brought my Mum along for this bridal day, and we had a great time. I wore a pink blazer dress (£40 from PrettyLittleThing) that I wore open as it suited me better this way. I love the bright, eye-catching shade of it, and it’s in my favourite colour – pink, teamed with my other favourite fashion colour – black. The blazer has now sold out, but there are lots of similar ones available on the site. The team in store were so friendly and welcoming. We were directed to take a seat in an area at the back of the store, but I had to take a look around first, as there was so many stunning products to smell. When we sat down for the consultation, we were given a glass of chilled champagne, which was a lovely touch.
The consultation began with me telling the team what Jo Malone fragrances I already liked and disliked, so they could get a feel for the type of scents I like. My favourite of all time is the Jo Malone Jasmine Sambac & Marigold Cologne Intense, but we agreed that this is probably too heavy a scent for a spring morning wedding. I talked about how I also loved another one of the black Jo Malone Cologne Intense range – Velvet Rose and Oud (read my post on this scent here), and also Red Roses. I was given several fragrances to smell that the team thought would go well layered with a rose scent, if I wanted to incorporate one of my favourites along with a new fragrance. I immediately fell in love with the first one they presented me with, and none of the subsequent ones compared. I just had to wear the Nectarine Blossom & Honey fragrance!
Jo Malone Nectarine Blossom & Honey is sweet and delicate – perfect for a spring morning wedding. It’s actually inspired by London’s Covent Garden Market early in the morning. It has spring flowers teamed with nectarine, peach and cassis notes, along with a beautiful heart of acacia honey. The team suggested that I wear this as a body lotion or body cream, so we tried both consistencies out with a hand and arm massage. I preferred the thicker, more nourishing body cream.
We then topped one arm with spritzs of Velvet Rose & Oud Cologne Intense, and the other arm with the lighter Red Roses Cologne to see which I preferred. I liked the freshness of Red Roses, and it’s not a scent I wear often, so I opted for this one. These two scents are a delicious combination!
I’m so excited to wear the Jo Malone Nectarine Blossom & Honey Body Cream*** (£54) and the Jo Malone Red Roses Cologne*** (£98 for 100ml) on my wedding day next May. There was also, luckily, an illustrator in store on the day I went and she (@starkeyslane) painted a beautiful watercolour ‘L’ on my box. Such an elegant keepsake to treasure and keep all my wedding memories in after the day has passed.
There are so many elements to a wedding that you have to arrange! I have got my dream cake in my head, so I need to find someone to make that, and then I need to find a good wedding photographer whose style I like. So much to do!

This post is not in conjunction with PrettyLittleThing. I have worked with them recently, but it’s unconnected to this.
