As you’ll know if you follow me on social media, I went to Los Angeles with my mum earlier this month. I wasn’t planning on doing any blog posts about the trip at all, as I just wanted to hang out, shop and eat lots of yummy food. However, when I saw how beautifully everywhere was decorated for Christmas, I just had to get my camera out and capture it. So, this post is all about the holiday lights and holiday decor in LA. I also went to Disneyland in Anaheim for the day, and I made an IGTV video on the decor there, if you want to check out that video here. I also have two LA IG Stories highlights on my Instagram profile so you can see the rest of my trip. The US just does Christmas so much better than us. There are so many US Christmas markets that I want to visit!Let’s start with Beverly Hills, where I stayed and spent most of my time. The Beverly Wilshire hotel Christmas decor was just beautiful – so elegant, but also fun and embracing of the holiday season. This is the hotel from Pretty Woman. I’ve only seen that movie once and don’t really remember it; but apparently that’s why people like to see this hotel. I love that The Beverly Wilshire set up a cute Instagram photo setting with their snowman room too. I loved the photo I took in there. If you hate the cold but love all that Christmas fun, doing winter in California is definitely the way to go! Los Angeles is one of my best Christmas towns in the USA.
I also captured the holiday decor at The Beverly Hills Hotel. This glorious place used their iconic pink and green colour scheme in their decor, and I thought the nutcrackers lining the entrance walkway were stunning. The lobby smelt incredibly of Christmas tree, and their tree had little Christmas lambs all around the bottom – what’s not to love about that?! Have a look at these other luxury Christmas hotels in Southern California. Gorgeous!
In the streets of Beverly Hills, Rodeo Drive (and Via Rodeo) was definitely the place to see the most amazing holiday lights and decorations. They also played Christmas songs over loudspeakers too. There was also a nod to Rodeo Drive’s high fashion image, with a twinkly shoe. I filmed a Rodeo Drive holiday decor IGTV video too – see it here.
Via Rodeo is the steps and little street that sits at the Beverly Wilshire end of Rodeo Drive. This was the real showstopper, and the place I felt the most festive on the entire trip.
There are other best places to go for Christmas in the USA too!Over in West Hollywood, outdoor shopping and dining complex The Grove is the best place to see some Christmas decor and lights. They even have fake snow that falls there every night at 7pm; but I was never there late enough to see that. The Grove’s Christmas tree is the largest I saw and they put so much effort into their decorations. Their next door neighbour, The Original Farmer’s Market also got into the holiday spirit too.December really was such a magical time to visit Los Angeles, my most favourite place in the world. I most definitely have to move to California for at least part of the year in the future. One of the best days on the trip was the day I spent at Paramount Studios – a real treat! The US does Christmas so much better than us, so I loved being there and being able to bring home lots of Christmas goodies. Let’s just not talk about how much money I spent on all the Sephora holiday gift sets!
I can’t wait to return to Los Angeles, but I would also like to explore California as a state. For next time i’m on the west coast, Christmas in Las Vegas looks fabulous also. If you are going to be taking your first trip to the USA, check out a helpful USA trip planning guide.
