Since it’s Valentine’s Day soon and that i’m getting married in a few months, I have weddings permanently in my head. I thought I would share with you some romantic proposal locations in the UK if you are stuck for inspiration. I got engaged by the beach on the Greek island of Rhodes; but if you’re not off on holiday any time soon, these local spots would be perfect for that special moment.River cruise on the Thames
Why not head to London for a sightseeing cruise on the Thames and pop the question on board? You can even book cruises with a bar on board and that serve lunch or dinner. It would be so pretty at night to see all of London’s landmarks lit up. Or how about afternoon tea on board, or an Elvis tribute act? The options are endless and turn a simple sightseeing cruise into an amazing day or night out.On board the London Eye
If London is an important city to you as a couple, proposing on board the London Eye, when it’s at its highest and offering panoramic views of the whole city, would be magical. The team there are used to helping out with these special moments and can book you a private ride with champagne on hand.On the beach in Cornwall
There is nothing more romantic than a stroll along a beach with the sound of the waves. David and I used to watch the sunset every night on the beach in Greece and we got engaged there. He didn’t draw in the sand, but he did bring Haribo, so i’ll let that one go. Beaches are a lot quieter and cooler at night, and such a peaceful place to propose, with the waves lapping at your feet. There is an amazing secluded beach just off of Padstow in Cornwall (St. George’s Cove to Harbour Cover) – you can walk to it along a little path through the grass. Do what I did and stay at the beautiful Cornish Secrets luxury Cornwall cottages! At the top of Ben Nevis
If you and your partner are fit and enjoy hill walking, why not try the most epic climb in Scotland, Ben Nevis. The views of the Scottish Highlands are unparalled and you feel like you are on top of the world and capable of achieving anything. It’s an incredible 1345 metres above sea level. Take your partner on this mountain climb and pop the question at the top – a much better reward than some soggy sandwiches.By a waterfall in Yorkshire
In North Yorkshire, there’s a gigantic single drop waterfall which you can walk to from the village of Hawes. Hardraw Force is a beautiful sight and is accessible along the side of the Green Dragon Inn pub – it’s a short walk out the back. You do have to pay a small fee to be able to see it; but if you go off season it’s so quiet and secluded. You can get up really close to it too. Then you can spend time together exploring all these North of England top spots.Under a tree in the Cotswalds
Westonbirt is an arboretum run by Forestry England. Essentially it’s a botanic garden of trees. How cute would it be to pick a tree to get engaged under, and that can then be your tree forever. Westonbirt is comprised of 600 acres and 2500 species of trees. Depending on the season, there’s flowers too. A wonderful and romantic place to escape.
Wherever you get engaged, make it special for you. I hope the answer is YES!
