Travel can be stressful – all that luggage carrying, airport security and jet lag madness. I wanted to share some things with you, to help make your journey and time away relaxing and enjoyable. Get all of these and pack them in your case and hand luggage immediately!
Have you got travel insurance?
First up, please do not travel abroad without insurance. I’ve heard too many horror stories to not drive home this point to you. My travel agent told me about someone recently who booked with her then had to get airlifted off of a cruise ship in a medical emergency. To pay for it, they had to re-mortage their home. However, should you end up in a situation abroad where the worst happens and you didn’t get comprehensive travel insurance before you travelled, there are companies who offer emergency travel insurance when you are abroad and end up needing medical attention. It’s not free, but at least they can speak to you in your own language and help you find an option that will hit your credit cards the least!
Now that’s out the way, i’m assuming you now have insurance and we can now proceed!
The first things you need to make your trip away more peaceful are lovely Orla Kiely travel candles – the Lavender (£7.99 from Fragrance Direct) One is a blend of French lavender, geranium, lemon and mint; and the other has basil, green mint, caraway, may chang and lemon peel. The Lavender candle is so relaxing, and the Basil & Mint is really great at helping to clear your mind. These would be great to burn the night before and the morning you travel, if you get anxious or just want to start your journey calm and focussed.
If you are a nervous flyer, you need this delightful facial mist spray from Roques ONeil Therapie, and if you’re not, it’s such an enjoyable and relaxing product to have with you anyway. The Roques ONeil Therapie Restore Aura Spray (£32 from Selfridges) is an aromatherapy blend of frankincense, rose, spearmint, lemon and white sage – it really helps to calm you and focus your thoughts.
Another aromatherapy product that is definitely a stress-free travel essential is the Tazeka Aromatherapy Travel Companion Roll-On Remedy ($39.50 from Tazeka Aromatherapy). This is perfect for those who get travel sick. It’s such an attractive bottle and you roll it on your pulse points and inhale the sharp, fresh blend of ginger, cornmint, caradmon and sweet orange to ease nausea.
Some of the most important things you take on a journey are your gadgets – tablets to keep you entertained and phones to keep you in contact with the world – and one of the most irritating things is trying to keep these gadgets charged in-transit or having the suitable plugs when you land in a new country. The Olixar Power Up Kit* (£44.99 from Funky Mobile) solves all of those dilemmas. It contains a portable charger with retractable charge and sync cables to suit all devices – there is a lightning cable, USB and micro USB. There is also travel adapter with four USB ports and plug attachments for different countries.
