This is the first Vichy product that I have tried in a long, long time. So, it was nice to dip back into the brand. This is a new mask from them, and it’s all about delivering a massive dose of hydration to the skin, and all the visual skin improvements that this brings with it.
This clear gel texture mask feels very similar time Glow Recipe’s Watermelon Sleeping Mask. It’s light, it’s cooling and it just sinks into the skin. The hero ingredient in the Vichy Liftactiv Hyalu Mask*** (£40 from Vichy) is Hyaluronic Acid – that moisturising and moisture-retention property found naturally in the skin. By significantly boosting this, skin feels softer, plumper and more youthful. Not all Hyaluronic Acid is equal. The most effective is multi-molecular; where the HA is able to penetrate into the deepest layers of the skin because there are smaller enough molecules. Lesser quality Hyaluronic Acid has larger molecules that only hydrate the top layers and usually have quite a sticky texture. This mask feels divine and my skin just drinks it in. Vichy likens this mask’s dose of Hyaluronic Acid to be equal to a facial filler injection. That’s a big of an over exaggeration; but it definitely does yield good results. There’s the skin softening emollient Glycerin and skin barrier fortifying Dimethicone, to keep that moisture locked in.
You leave this mask on for 5 minutes, then wipe off with a damp cloth; although I think this would make a great overnight mask if you wanted to use it that way. After use, skin appears more awake and refreshed, plumper and with a healthy dewy radiance. If you’ve not had much sleep or we’re out the night before, this is a great refresh for the morning before work.
It has a fresh, ocean-like scent and feels so cooling and soothing to apply. I really like this mask and I’ll definitely be reaching for it often!
