I bite and chew on my lips when i’m anxious, and given that I have OCD and Generalised Anxiety, that’s pretty much most of the time. During periods of intense stress (has any of 2020 not been intense?!) I end up with a split top lip. I’ve been managing to keep this at bay however, by really upping my lip balm game. These are 5 lip treatments that I recommend you introduce into your life, pronto!Biossance Squalane + Rose Vegan Lip Balm* – £16, Cult Beauty
I love Biossance’s oils, so I was so excited to this. I also love the packaging on this – my favourite packaging of all 5 of the lip treatments i’ve been trying. This is a heavenly lip balm and it doesn’t have a rose scent or taste like you might expect it would. I’m happy about this as I love rose scents, but not on my lips. The balm obviously contains Biossance’s hero ingredient, Squalane, to really nourish and condition the lips. There’s also rose to soothe, Hyaluronic Acid to hydrate and Wakame Algae Extract to plump and diminish fine lines. I love lip balms that are more like lip masks, and this does not disappoint by disappearing from your lips as quickly as it took to apply. It hangs around, it stays supple and you don’t need to keep reapplying. I also love that Biossance is such a sustainable brand. Not only are they Vegan and cruelty-free, but the Squalane that they use is also ethical and sustainably-sourced. facetheory Lipabalm Bioactive Vegan Lip Balm – £10.99, facetheory
This has been a very common sight on every ‘skinfluencer’s’ Instagram feed during 2020, so i’ve been wanting to try it for a long time after seeing so many of the people I follow recommend it. It did not disappoint. Of all 5 of the lip treatments in this post, I think that this one from facetheory is my favourite. It’s thick and it does its job on your lips for hours. I hate lip balms that just disappear into the skin. This one treats the skin on your lips and protects them with a protective seal. Also Vegan, this lip balm uses the latest innovations in plant technology. It contains Raspberry Seed Oil and Vitamin E to help with skin renewal, heal chapped lips and prevent moisture loss from the lips. There’s also the very effective emollient Shea Butter, which also gives your lips antioxidant protection. Finally, Gromwell Root Extract calms inflammation and helps prevent damage from free radicals. The texture of this is dreamy and you can tell immediately that this is a powerful treatment to keep your lips soft and protected.

NUXE Reve de Miel Honey Lip Balm – £11, Escentual
As I say all the time, i’m loving honey as a skincare ingredient right now. This is a lovely lip balm but you do need to apply it a bit more often that the previous two i’ve discussed. It does its job well however, and if you like scents with a tingly ginger and grapefruit element to them, you’ll love this. It definitely has that sharper taste and smell. It reminds me of a Paul & Joe lip balm that I adored many years ago. There’s honey to repair cracked lips, soothing and nourishing plant oils and nourishing Shea Butter, as well as healing and soothing propolis. One of these lip balms is sold across the world every 28 seconds. If that’s not a testament to a good product, I don’t know what is. This is definitely a creamier balm that the previous two and it’s lighter and not needing to melt really.Givenchy Le Rose Perfecto Liquid Balm in Perfect Pink* – £32, Escentual
This is an amazing cross between a lip balm and a lip gloss. It has a beautiful, strong colour and shine, but also amazing softening and nourishing properties too. How chic does it look with its leather lid?! This is a thick product, but it’s not sticky, so it remains on your lips for many hours before you need to reapply. It’s said to offer 8 hours of hydration and I agree that it’s definitely powerful. There’s Shea Butter and Cranberry Oil to hydrate and soften the lips; especially if they are chapped. It also has tingly, freshening and plumping pink pepper as well as the incredible hydrator and plumper Hyaluronic Acid. If you are a lip gloss addict, why not get one that has real skincare benefits too. To me, this is worth every penny!Burt’s Bees Overnight Intensive Lip Treatment – £6.99, Burt’s Bees
The final lip product to introduce to you is this lip balm from Burt’s Bees that’s designed to be an overnight treatment. This is a great one to wear overnight as it’s thick and I can layer it on to protect my lips as I sleep. It doesn’t disappear or wipe off onto your pillow as it contains so many natural emollients, waxes and oils. It’s so hydrating and moisturising and it really helps to lock in that moisture during the night. It is also rich in Ceramides, so you are getting that support for your skin’s natural moisture barrier too. This has a very subtle sweet scent and it’s such a pleasant texture to use.
