This week i’m talking about a very aesthetically-pleasing mask from Bybi Beauty. It’s an acid mask and it’s quite strong, so if you don’t already use AHAs in your routine, this might not be the best way to begin exploring their wonderful effects.
The Bybi Acid Gold AHA Face Mask* (£20 from Bybi) has a real powerhouse line-up of ingredients, designed to clarify, brighten and smooth your skin. It’s a great mask treatment to do once per week – I wouldn’t recommend you use it more often than that. It’s a powerful exfoliating mask that gets rid of dead skin cells, brightens and improves skin tone and texture. It’s also clarifying and replenishing, as it encourages cell renewal too. This mask has a thick gel texture and you use the little brush that comes with it to paint a thin layer over your face. You then leave it to do its work for 5-15 minutes (depending on skin sensitivity to AHAs and the level of tingling), before rinsing it off with warm water. It’s not a mask for sensitive skin, but does wonders for blemish-prone, dull, clogged and dry skin. I’d recommend doing a patch test with this on a tiny area before applying it all over your face, as the mask is a potent one.
You may prefer my recommendations for good exfoliating acid pads instead!
The ingredients in this are impressive. The Alpha Hydroxy Acids it contains are lactic (derived from bilberry extract), glycolic (derived from sugar cane extract), plus malic and tartaric (from sugar maple extract). This potent blend exfoliates dead skin cells to reveal the new, brighter skin underneath. These are great for dry and dull skin! The mask also contains pumpkin enzymes which exfoliate too, but also promote cell renewal for healthier, younger-looking skin that’s bright, firm, plump and even-textured. There’s also papaya enzyme in this mask, which reduces bacteria to tackle blemishes and breakouts; as well as moisturising glycerin and sea buckthorn oil. Sea buckthorn oil is also a great skin healer too.
The carton, cap and glass container are all 100% recyclable in your domestic recycling bin, but if you want to help upcycle and reuse the jar, you can return it to Bybi using the postage label included with your purchase. This circular recycling helps to save on energy and CO2.
