Outfits can catch people’s eyes for many different reasons. Perhaps you’re wearing something quite colourful or you’ve got plenty of interesting statement accessories on. Maybe you’re just the most well put together person on the street. There are subtle (and more obvious) ways to make your style choices stand out more and I wanted to share them with you.Something Out of the Ordinary
To make a fashion statement, it’s important to experiment with fashion trends. Wear things that are in for that particular season and wear pieces that you wouldn’t normally wear. Also try mixing and matching items that you wouldn’t normally put together. Something out of the ordinary could really mean anything, couldn’t it? It could even be that you have some interesting arm tattoos on show instead of sleeves, or nose piercings that will add a grungier look to a pretty dress. It could also be accessorising with an expensive bit of jewellery that you normally save for just special occassions. Style comes in many shapes and forms and if you want people to look over at you, it’s always good to have something a little unusual and unique for them to look twice at.
Bright Colours and Shades
Bright colours and shades are always going to be eye-catching, simply because we live in a typically monochromatic styled society that loves to dress in block, uniform colours. People on the whole don’t like to take risks or have people look at them. So bringing a little more life to your neighbourhood and any rooms you enter, will make people notice you. Get a nice bright jacket or a colouful pair of shoes to add that eye-catching pop of colour to your outfit.
Looking bold can also help you to feel bold, which improves the way you walk and carry yourself. So, when you’ve got something bright on that really makes the otherwise plain outfit you’re wearing pop, you’re going to catch quite a few looks when you pass people, because of that blatent style and confidence on show.Unique Alterations
If you feel like you only have high street pieces that everyone has got, you could alter them to make them more unique. You could add a lace trim to a collar, sew a layer of organza over a midi skirt, or add some embroidery. Really get creative and use it as an opportunity to express yourself.
It’s All in the Details
And finally, it’s important to realise that it’s all in the details. When you’ve got an outfit planned out in your head, and you’re wondering what will give it that extra little bit of sparkle, it’s key to focus on the little things that make up the bigger picture.
It might be the way that you have tied your shirt at the waist to accentuate it, or it might be the pretty lace bra strap that is peeking out from your camisole. These small things matter. Look for really unique buttons, shoes with unusual heels or even trousers that have been cuffed in a unique way.
As long as you have the right things to wear and you carry yourself with confidence, your outfits will make an impact on people you meet. Make sure that what you’re wearing makes you feel good and feel powerful, as that’s always going to be the best way to draw people’s attention. Fake it til’ you make it!
