If you need to buy a gift for a friend or loved one, you’ve got an almost limitless pool of choices! Well, Covid permitting. However, when you need to find a unique gift for that person who has everything, it can sometimes be a little tricky to make the right choice. I wanted to share with you some ideas of where to look for unique gift idea inspiration. I’ll share with you some tips on where to look so you can find that perfect present, regardless of the occasion!
Jewellery Designer-Makers
It’s no secret that one of the most common gift ideas for men and women is jewellery. You can head down to any high street jewellery store and find a wide selection of rings, necklaces, earrings and more. However, all the jewellery sold there is all mass-produced and not very unique or sentimental. If you want to give a special jewellery gift to someone, it’s best to shop with smaller, independent jewellery designers.
Try a jewellery maker that specialises in unique, handmade items or that can personalise a piece to include a special stone, message or date. That way, you can specify what you want, resulting in a truly one-of-a-kind gift for your friend or loved one.
Etsy
Demand for handmade items is growing, especially with the Covid pandemic and the need to support small independent businesses and creators. Handmade products are perfect presents for people, as they show you’ve put a lot of thought and consideration into the gift.
Trawling the internet for sites that offer handmade items can be time-consuming and frustrating at the best of times. That’s why Etsy exists – one site where you can browse handcrafted items from hundreds of sellers. Etsy showcases unique, handmade goods from sellers worldwide. It’s the eBay of handmade items and unique designs, and like eBay, it’s easy to browse, select, and buy anything you want.Salvage Shops
The internet isn’t the only source of inspiration for unique gift ideas for your friend or loved one. In many towns across the UK, you’ll come across salvage shops that sell reclaimed items sourced from all kinds of places! Let’s say you want to find a unique gift idea for someone that enjoys tinkering with cars. You might find some vintage signage from a garage or petrol station that would look perfect in a home garage or workshop. It’s a very environmentally-friendly gift too!
Of course, vintage signage isn’t the only thing you’ll find in a salvage yard or shop. There are reclaimed items from all manner of homes and businesses. Such shops are a veritable treasure trove of items! If buying used or reclaimed is your bag, there are so many places to shop second-hand.
Markets
Lastly, one place you may wish to consider is your local market. Sure, they’re great places for stocking up on your weekly fruit and vegetables, but, many markets often have craft stalls there too – makers with unique, handmade items that can be perfect presents for people.
You might think that you need to visit market stalls in a large town or city. However, the ones in smaller towns and villages, and in rural areas, often yield the best finds.
Go forth and find that perfect gift!
