THE ABCs OF SHOPPING FOR ACCESSORIES

Fashion accessories are more than just items to compliment an outfit. They can make a big statement and they influence not only the way you feel about yourself, but also the way others view you. If you want to truly unlock the full power of jewellery and accessories on your confidence, wellbeing, perception and position, focus on these mindful ABCs of shopping for accessories.

    Association

If you want the jewellery pieces or accessories to actually mean something, look beyond just their aesthetics when shopping. A sentimental connection can take the love of a piece to whole new heights, especially when it is worn on a daily basis. For example, knowing the different birthstones is a great, easy starting point when it comes to jewellery. Similarly, many semi-precious stones such as Rose Quartz or Jade have their own ‘powers’ and meanings. Many stones in jewellery represent personality traits or carry meanings. They are a great way to give you a daily bit of comfort, reassurance or strength.

Moreover, those sentimental pieces are an ideal way to celebrate a friendship or relationship too. This could be something as simple as a locket that holds a photograph of a mum and daughter. Similarly, personalised pieces, with initials or engravings, could be used to celebrate an important date, give you a daily affirmation or to carry a bit of a loved one around with you.

It’s not only jewellry that can have such powers, though. Handbags, hats and other accessories can also stand for more than just their aesthetic beauty. Fashion psychology is a huge topic, but if you want a piece to bring you true joy every day, it often will have different associations than you just like the look of it. Perhaps you are about to buy your first designer bag? What about a designer loved by your late grandmother? Or maybe you will decide to shop vintage pieces because of the historic glamour associated with their time. Even choosing a colour because it is sentimental is a great way to shop for accessories.pearl ringBargain

No matter what your budget, the importance of gaining value for money should never be overlooked. You will enjoy a piece of jewellery or an accessory all the more if you managed to get a good deal. Even when it’s an expensive piece of jewellery, negotiating the best deal is vital. The extra source of happiness it brings cannot be denied. Besides, if there is any chance that you will sell the product at a later date, getting a bargain purchase improve your return. Especially when it comes to collectable designer bags such as Chanel. Not to mention the fact that any savings can then be invested in other fashion items!

Getting a bargain, does not mean something is ‘cheap’. The moissanite gemstone is a fantastic example of this. Often it’s the most wealthy of people who are the best at getting a good deal! You can turn bargain hunting into something of a hobby. Whether it’s searching the sales, attending auctions, or checking out liquidation stock, it doesn’t matter.chanel store frontCharacter

Think about what a fashion accessory you are thinking of purchasing reveals about your character. Both in terms of, is it the right image you want to project, and, does it reflect the real you? None of us are truly authentic. None of us wear exactly what we please when we please. We all have to fit into an image at times. However, if you want a fashion accessory or piece of jewellery to give you real pleasure, it will be something that reflects your true self. Maybe you work in a high net-worth luxury sector where designer handbags are seen on every arm. You could still fit in with your social circle, show off your love for the finer things in life but also reflect your quirky love for Disney, by buying a piece from the Gucci X Mickey Mouse collection, for example. Or maybe you have a deep connection to Italy so want to wear the finest Italian handbags?

Similarly, you could use a piece of vintage jewellery in creating your ‘signature look’. “She’s the one with the vintage Rolex” you might hear people say. A vintage piece of jewellery with a story behind it and a history has character and can help give you character. The history of the Rolex Hulk underlines how your timepiece could more than a watch, but have distinct character and charm that can make it a true statement piece you’ll love for years.

Be more mindful and consider these ABCs when shopping for fashion accessories; but if your chosen piece can increase your happiness, be with you for a long time and reflect your true self, you’re onto a real winner.
