Gifting is more than getting to the store and picking a few items. Gifting is a medium of communication where you showcase your care, love, and gratitude in a thoughtful way. But when choosing gifts for loved ones or friends, you need to consider several factors. What do they like? What is their lifestyle?
You may feel enormous pressure figuring out the ideal gift for that special person in your life. We all feel the pressure to spend hours in gift shops and online stores searching for a gift that speaks truly to the person you love. I’ve compiled some essential tips to help you secure a unique gift for every occasion quickly; without all those lengthy searches.
Have a List
Choosing a gift is not easy as you’d think. You need to think carefully. Lists are your friend. Jot down some initial ideas and then spend a short time brainstorming until you narrow your list to that one perfect present. Have a look on their social media too and also make a list of things not to get them/things they already have, to help you with your brainstorming.
Have a Budget Plan
You obviously value and love the people in your life; but you shouldn’t put yourself in financial difficulties buying them a gift. You need to have a clear budget plan to know exactly how much you want to spend. Write it down as a promise to yourself that you won’t go overboard. It will also make your search for gifts for him, kids gifts or beauty gifts for Christmas and birthdays much easier as you have a price range to look through. In all shops, set the product order to ‘from Lowest to Highest price’ to stop you looking at more expensive items. Also look for shops and online stores with offers and coupons for money off. That doesn’t mean you can then spend more. Treat it as a saving for yourself – the person getting the gift doesn’t know you used a voucher code to get money off.Consider the Personality of the Receiver
When it comes to gifts for your loved ones, you need to consider what they like. It’s not about your taste but theirs. Yes it’s true that you still need to feel pride over your gift and feel that it suits your gift-giver personality; but you must make sure it’s something they would choose for themselves. The women in my life like chic, boujie, stylish gifts. I can never go wrong with luxury beauty for the people in my circle. For men I usually go for something like personalised glasses and a bottle of their favourite whisky.
Consider the Occasion
Gift-giving is exciting and brings joy to both the receiver and the giver. But as much as you want to gift a friend or a loved one, consider the occasion. There are birthdays, graduations, weddings, Christmas, anniversaries, to mention a few. Each occasion needs a unique present and a present that’s suitable to the occasion and suitable for the people watching them open their presents to view. Romantic gifts such as heart-shaped cushions, personalised jewellery or bouquets of red roses are suitable for occasions such as marriage anniversaries and Valentine’s Day, for example. They are also non-risque gifts.
Make it Special
Think about what will make your gift stand out? People are fascinated with gifts that are customised just for them. I myself love anything with an LPS monogram! Personalized gifts are memorable and likely to be treasured by the receiver. Customised items speak of your care, respect, gratitude, love, and admiration of your loved one, as they require that extra bit of effort and thought. If you’re going to treat someone to some jewellery, make it something unique like a personalised necklace or a locket with personal photos inside.
The gift wrapping is almost more important than the gift itself, as it can make a relatively mediocre gift look stunning. Give them an experience when they open the gift. Layers of tissue paper, a spritz of scent, a calligraphy gift tag and beautiful chic wrapping paper.
Speak to an Expert
Searching for the perfect gift can take it’s toll on you. With strict deadlines to meet, you may not find ample time to make the right choice. Gift experts will make gift-giving manageable, easy, and fun. Many high-end department stores will even profesionally wrap the gift too. Yes, it goes against all the above points; but if you simply don’t have time to find the perfect gift yourself, pass over the task to someone who does.
