Portugal has many beautiful and diverse beaches. Some beaches have the most clean and beautiful golden sand, while others contain secluded spots that make a perfect, cozy getaway. If you are looking wondering how to spend a holiday in Portugal, it’s a country that has spectacular beaches and a wonderful climate, Portugal is one of the best destinations you can find.
Praia da Foz do Arelho
This beach is uniquely positioned – one side of it is exposed to the Atlantic Ocean, while the rear of the beach opens into the waters of the lagoon. There is a town behind called Foz de Arhelo, which is where this beach gets its name from. The town is a resort town that is frequented by many Portuguese families. If you are in Portugal and looking for a family-friendly beach town, this is a good choice. It is one of many people’s favourite beaches in Portugal.Praia de Moledo
In the far north of Portugal, close to the Spanish border, you will find Moledo’s beach. This beach has a long stretch of sand and you can view the hills of Spain from the beach. It is a favorite spot for surfers because it is often windy with strong waves. If you are in the mood for relaxation you can go to the beach at anytime of the day and you will usually find it to be quite peaceful. The exception to that is in the height of summer, when it does get very busy, but if this doesn’t bother you then this is definitely one beach you shouldn’t miss, no matter what season finds you in Portugal.
Praia da Adraga, Sintra
This beach is north of Lisbon. It can be found at the base of the forested Sintra Hills. This beach is littered with rocks in different sections and is flanked by high cliffs which are great for providing shade in the summer. If you get hungry there is a restaurant overlooking the sea. At this restaurant, you can get fish and other types of seafood. This is definitely more of a beach for a walk or to eat at, rather than sunbathe, due to the terrain. If you’re in Lisbon visiting some famous Portugal landmarks, make sure to also check out this nearby beach.Praia da Baleeira
The sea that surrounds Portugal’s blue coast is one of the most startling bodies of blue water that you will ever see. The beach is secluded for ultimate privacy, making it a very romantic destination. There is fragrant wild rosemary and many secluded spots that will make you feel as if you’re in a secret cove. Since the beach is protected by cliffs on either side and has a steep climb going down, many people are unaware or have not attempted to go down to see this beautiful beach.
Find Your Perfect Beach
Finding the best beaches in Portugal is all a matter of personal taste. A beach that may appeal to you may not appeal to others. The beach that you choose to spend your vacation time at, should be based on the ambiance you want and the company that you are with. There are several family-friendly beaches as well as more romantic ones for couples. This is one of the most wonderful things about Portuguese beaches, there is always a beach that fits the occasion and the mood that you are in.
