A woman’s handbag is like a survival kit as well as a style statement. Having a handbag that has everything in it to cover any scenario, is convenient but it can sometimes cause your bag to become cluttered, untidy and excessively heavy. Some women have a handful of items they live by which never leave their bags, but what you may need differs from person to person. That said, there are a few things that should always be on you when you leave the house, no matter what type of woman you are. Whether you are sporty, a smart professional or a busy Mum, below are four items that should always be included in your bag when you leave the house.
Panic Alarm
It may sound a bit drastic, but I’m sure you’d rather have it in there and not ever need it than not have it and find yourself in a situation where you need it. Police departments recommend carrying a personal alarm with you as an effective self-defense method, and you’ll be much more comfortable when going out of the house alone too. No, this doesn’t mean you can now walk home at 11 o’clock at night, but having a panic alarm gives you added protection should you land yourself in a dangerous or uncomfortable situation.
Hand Cream & Hand Sanitiser
If this past year has taught us anything, it’s how many germs are around us all day every day. Even after this pandemic is over, you should still take hand sanitiser with you wherever you go. You’ve got into the habit of applying it, so why lose that. Along with hand santiser, must always come hand cream to keep your hands soft and smooth. Having a small tube of heavy duty hand moisturiser that can replace any moisture lost during the day will ensure they always stay super soft. Not only do they help with dry hands, they also improve the look and feel of our nails and cuticles. You can also carry a bougie hand cream just for the beautiful scent and pamper factor too!
Lipstick / Lip Gloss / Tinted Lip Balm
However insignificant it may sound, having a tinted lip product in your bag is a lifesaver when you need it. Applying it immediately elevates any look and makes you look more prepared for whatever occasion. Whether you’re popping into a business meeting, going for lunch with friends, or meeting a date for dinner after work, a lip colour will instantly complete your look and freshen up your make-up to make it look as if it was applied 5 minutes ago. When getting yourself a stay-in-purse lipstick, try opting for a neutral colour, so it will suit any outfit or occasion.
Breath Mints
One of the most embarrassing things is feeling that you need to go into a meeting or meet a client last minute after you’ve had something with onions or garlic for lunch. It can really affect your confidence. Having breath mints in your bag for when you’ve finished eating or when you have a meeting, will ensure your breath stays fresh and also give you a boost of confidence when talking to people. A strong mint is always the most satisfying I find.
With these four items, you’ll be ready for anything that may come your way. Also, be sure to empty your bag from time to time to get rid of any unnecessary receipts, wrappers and loose change that may have fallen out of your purse – a well-organised bag will ensure you have enough space for everything you need.
