A couple of months ago, I got introduced to a new brand launching into British high-street favourite Boots. Florena Fermented Skincare is natural, Vegan, sustainable and powered by fermented ingredients. There’s masks, oils, moisturisers and more.
This post contains a PR sample, but all opinions are my own.
This eco-friendly brand is designed to nourish the skin. They select all their oils and botanicals because of how much they benefit the skin. All their products are made from recycled and recyclable materials. Their unique selling point is the fermented aspect of their brand. What is fermentation in skincare I hear you ask? Basically it’s a natural way of breaking something down into a smaller and more powerful substance. Fermented ingredients are known for they’re healing properties and antioxidant properties and make Florena skincare stronger and more effective. So they say.
There are two face masks in the range – each in a single use recyclable paper sachet. The Firming Mask and the 24H Hydrating Mask* (£5.99 and £4.99 from Boots) could probably stretch to two uses each, which makes them better value for money. They are light cream masks that you apply over the skin then leave them to work their magic for 10 minutes.
The Hydrating Mask contains fermented Camellia Sinensis and fermented Olive Oil. Their fermented olive oil is an antioxidant king, with 50X more Omega 6 and Omega 9 fatty acids than non-fermented olive oil. This strong antioxidant function protects against free radicals and also strengthens the hydrolipidic film of the skin, protecting it from external agressors in general. The fermented Camelia oil hydrates and helps the skin to retain moisture. It boosts skin elasticity and gets right down into the deeper layers of the skin. My skin feels so soft and plump after using this mask. It’s especially nice straight from the fridge.
The Firming Mask really plumps and firms the skin. Fermented Hyaluronic Acid and fermented Honeysuckle Olive Oil moisturise, soften and plump. It has the same antioxidant powers as the hydrating mask and it really gives the same results as the hydrating mask. I wouldn’t say you need both as they are so similar to each other.
I like these masks, but I would have liked to have seen a real difference between the two, to better show the different benefits from fermented ingredients. These are so similar. If you feel like a pamper night, definitely pick one of these up. I like them, but they wouldn’t be a staple in my routine.
