We all love to look our best, but sometimes, no matter how much we love an outfit, we just don’t seem to look as good in it as we thought. However, improving how you look in an outfit isn’t all about just how the outfit fits or how your physical body fits and moves in the clothes. A lot of other things affect how good we look in an outfit and they aren’t always things that you would consciously consider. Here are some tips to help you with looking the best that you possibly can in your clothes.
Tailor your clothes
Yes, fit is very important, but it’s still not everything. Most of us buy most of our clothes off the peg, which is absolutely fine, but it does mean that our outfits have been designed for the average person of our size, not for us specifically. We all have very different body shapes and curves, even if we are the same ‘dress size’. That means the sleeves may be a bit long or the waist a little baggy, which can stop us from looking our absolute best. By investing in clothes that have been tailored to your specific measurements is definitely worth it. These usually of a much higher quality too, so will last you a lot longer. Cost per wear would be a lot lower that with off the peg. If this isn’t in your budget, buy mid-market and then have them altered by a seamstress. By having our clothes altered to truly fit our unique forms, we can all look much better in our clothes.
Wear a better bra
Many of us have never been fitted for a bra. Instead, just guessing our size and sticking to it whether we’ve lost our gained weight. However, it’s really important to get properly fitted for a bra anytime you feel your bidy has changed. For us girls, wearing the right bra can make a huge difference to how good our outfits look. It affects your silhouette, it affects your posture and it affects your confidence. All things that can stop clothes sitting well or moving well with your body. Whether it’s women’s sexy lingerie or mismatched Bridget Jones comfort undies, you need to ensure that your cup and back measurements are correct. There is a certain ways a bra should fit you and if you deviate from this, it won’t be comfortable, it won’t lift your breasts well or provide you with a smooth silouette. It can be quite daunting to get a bra fitting, but it will be so worth it when you can put on any outfit you own and instantly look much better than you did before.
Match your shoes and tights
One dressing tip that a lot of women often don’t employ is to wearing tights and shoes that are the same shade and colour. It’s actually a great way to add length to your legs, but it’s also a very chic and sophisticated way to dress. So, if you have black shoes on, go for black tights. If you’re wearing red boots, put on a pair of red tights.
Pay attention to accessories
Even the most beautiful of outfits can head south with the addition of poor accessory choices. Even the simplest outfit will look more stylish and put together if you take the time to pair it with some pretty jewellery. Jewellery and accessories can elevate an outfit and make it look like you have really thought about your style choices. If you can’t spend a lot on your wardrobe, adding more expensive accessories to a cheaper outfit will really make you look a lot more elegant. If you never seem to look quite right in an outfit you own, think about your accessories. Some beautiful gold jewellery or a twilly scarf can really transform it.
Fix your hair
When you take the time to put some extra effort into your hairstyle, it immediately elevates the rest of your outfit and makes you look a million times better in your outfit, even if you’re just wearing some cheap basics. That doesn’t mean you need to spend a fortune on a salon cuts/colours, or a lot of time each morning on a complicated look. Just taking the time to blow dry your hair properly to give it some shape and volume, rather than just scraping it back, will make all the difference. Blowdries in salons are quite low-cost, so think about this for when you are going out for any special occasions.
Stop slouching
Last, but not least, work at improving your posture. Slouching does not make anyone look good – your clothes look crumpled and you aren’t allowing your outfits to reach their best potential.
Do these things and you really can look good in almost anything anything!
