I’ve said countless times that I’m not really a fan or physical exfoliators. There has been a couple i’ve loved – Huda Beauty Yo Glow and Saturday Skin Rub-a-Dub Peel as they are a mixture of acid and physical exfoliation; but in general i’ve been firmly an acid girl. However, I’ve fallen in love with HydraFacials and love how my skin has been looking after that microdermabrasion. So, I thought i’d try to keep my skin looking good in-between treatments, with an at-home facial scrub.
The Decleor Green Mandarin Glow Scrub Mask (£34 from Decleor) has such a striking scent that’s citrusy and fresh. It’s not a scent everyone will love and I find it too strong and a bit off-putting. This product is a cross between a face scrub and a face mask. It is very sticky, which is it’s main downfall as it’s tricky to remove without finding bits of remaining grit hours later, behind your ears or in your hairline! It’s a fairly course sugar and shell particle scrub that manually exfoliates the face and removes dead skin cells to reveal the glowing skin underneath. Its key ingredient is Green Mandarin Essential Oil, alongside Marula Oil and Apricot Oil – to nourish the skin, add glow, act as an antioxidant and smooth the skin. There’s nothing high-tech about it, and no amazing ingredients, but it does make your skin feel soft and smooth, and boosts radiance too. It does the job, but I don’t love the experience of using it. I’ll finish this tub, but it’s unlikely that I’d re-purchase. My skin just prefers different products, and those products – Huda Beauty YoGlow and Saturday Rub-a-Dub Peel – give much better results for me. If you like sugar face scrubs already, do try this if you can get hold of a sample, but it’s average at best.
I find it interesting that this is referred to as a scrub ‘mask’. To me, it’s not much of a mask as I can’t see any benefit to leaving it sitting on your skin compared to just using it as a regular scrub. Masks, for me, are also an indulgent experience where you can take some ‘time out’. If I leave this sitting on my skin for the 5+ minutes it suggests, I just get annoyed because it’s so sticky and smells so strong. Any benefits come from the scrub element rather than the mask element.

It’s an effective manual exfoliator, but it’s nothing special. I’d describe it as a bit ‘meh’! I have found that with most of the Decleor products i’ve tried, sadly. If you have sensitive skin, I stay clear of this because of all the essential oils and the course particles.
