and trahere’s nothing worse than being in a city for just a few hours to 24 hours and feeling like you can’t really get to see any of it. Even with just a few hours, you can get some enjoyment from the city you find yourself in. It’s all about just following some travel tips to make the most of what you have. I’m going to be sharing some tips for travellers on how to get something memorable out of their stopover destination.
Whether you are in London for a day, or Paris for 3 hours, you can still experience some of the great things these cities have to offer.
Travels tips on how to deal with your luggage
My most important tip for travellers in to deal with your luggage. So it doesn’t way you down and slow you down. Luggage is the number one thing that stops travellers being able to make the most of their stopovers. It takes so much longer time to navigate a city with baggage. Plus, dragging it around really saps your energy and motivation to see more things.
Many people believe that they have to be saddled with their luggage. Maybe they’ve been forced to collect it at the airport, or they can’t return to their hotel. This is especially true of London as it’s impossible to take luggage on and off the tube. It can also take over an hour to travel a relatively small distance in a taxi. However, there is a London luggage storage solution and travel tip you haven’t thought of!
Using a service like Stasher allows you to store your luggage at many different verified shops and hotels across the city. It’s available across the world too, not just London. Travel tip – visit their website, choose a location that’s convenient to where you are going to be and book in to store your bags there. This means no having to travel back to your hotel at the other side of the city. Plus, no being confined to an airport or train station because you can’t carry your luggage around. The best tip for travellers!
Use the fastest means of transport
Now is not the time to think of how you can save money. If you want to make the most of being in a city for less than a day. You need to use the most efficient method of transport. One of the most important travel tips! That means no ordinary train when you have the Gatwick Express, for example. You will have more time if you can get to the city centre faster.
Once you get there, think about the city you are in and what means of transport is most efficient there. For example, in London, the tube is usually quicker than a taxi. However, walking is usually quicker than both of these. Planning ahead and putting efficiency first is an important travel tip.
Travel tips to create an itinerary
The moment you know you are going to have at least a few hours spare, prepare! Do not arrive in your city with just a rough idea of the things you want to see and do. It’s important to create an itinerary. It’s also a great way to see how you can save money.
Travel tip – Don’t make your itinerary too long. Choose one area of the city to head to, then pick two things you’d like to do. One place to eat (even if it’s on the go). Plus, one attraction, landmark or museum to get a photo at or just experience. Plan in detail how to get to each of them by the fastest route and have it written down. This will cut down on you stopping and looking things up as you go. Once you’ve nailed your itinerary, use any spare time to just wander around and soak up the atmosphere. Many people are too ambitious or not prepared enough when it comes to their stopovers.
