We’re in that glorious time of year when winter turns into spring, and the days are lighter and increasingly getting warmer. I definitely crave full-on spring when it gets to this time of year as I’m excited about the new, happier, brighter season and the fun things that come with that.

In March, I make a real change to my fashion choices as I embrace spring. I wanted to share some style tips with you on some easy ways that you can transition from winter to spring and showcase the new season’s styles in 2024.

As I get older (I’m 40 in May), I follow less and less trends and stick to more classic, chic choices that never go out of style. My dressing is definitely more minimalistic on a day to day basis. This year, I’m loving the coquette bow trend that’s more of a social media trend than a runway one. That I am fully on board with and my bow collection grows weekly. Some runway trends that I’m going to be trying to give a nod to in my outfit choices are the high-rise trousers trend. I love a high-waisted trouser and they have become a staple in my wardrobe. We saw them all over the SS24 catwalks, from Louis Vuitton and Saint Laurent, to Loewe and The Row. I also love a tuille skirt, so the semi-transparent skirts that were in so many shows, are right up my street. Chanel, Givenchy and Louis Vuitton stunning, sheer black midi skirts. Finally, I am fully on-board for the SS24 metallics trend and I have so many gorgeous metallic pieces in my wardrobe. Nina Ricci had the most stunning metallic silver, with a touch of sea green, suit. Courrèges had a beautiful embellished gold and silver dress, and Renaissance Renaissance had a gold coquette dress adorned with cute black bows.

Bare your ankles

One way that you can show and feel the move from winter to spring fashion, is to bare your ankles. Ballerina flats are huge right now and I found a gorgeous pair from River Island on Very that are part ballerina flat and part espadrille. Plus, they are metallic rose gold too. Win, win and win! Team them with ankle grazing high-waisted trousers, or a sheer midi skirt and you’ll look like you’re straight out of the pages of Vogue.

Denim

For me personally, I don’t tend to wear denim in winter. It feels more like a part of my spring, summer and early autumn wardrobe. So when it gets to this time of year, I usually buy some new jeans and team them with a smart blazer to elevate them.

These are Very jeans and the jacket is from Very plus size coats. Then I team with several simple plain plus size tops for an easy smart casual look. I love adding a hair bow to this look too, to nod to my beloved coquette trend.

Countryside attire

Spring for me means more trips to the countryside, so I love comfy field green gilets and jackets, layered over cream knits, as it’s still cold out there. This gorgeous padded one is from Very. My Ugg boots, which you can also get via Very are perfect winter to spring transitional boots and look cute over some black leggings or turned up jeans. I also love more typical countryside attire like tweed blazers and Holland Cooper accessories.

Add some bows and metallics for 2024

The easiest way for you to give a nod to the SS24 catwalk trends is to add a metallic bag and a bow necklace or hair bow to your outfits. This will show that you are hot on the fashion pulse and doesn’t cost as much as buying new clothes for your wardrobe. Even think about a blazer with a metallic thread running through it. I’m incorporating these two things as much as I can as it’s so quick and easy to update your existing outfits with.
