Social media is full of incredible pictures of people skiing, so you may be tempted to gather your friends and book a trip of your own. Ski holidays are a fun way to try something new together, and with many resorts accommodating to all ages and skill levels, there is no excuse not to give it a go!
Here is a guide to planning a group ski trip and making lifelong memories.
Practical planning
Planning a group holiday can often be stressful and drawn-out with people expecting different things. Communication is key here. Create a separate group chat away from any other existing ones and use it specifically for holiday talk.
If someone is willing to step up, make them a leader when it comes to planning. Having one person find information and distribute it prevents people from getting confused. You may be able to get group discounts depending on the size of your group, so it is worth the leader being aware of that.
Finding dates that can accommodate everyone is challenging with busy schedules. There are many social organising apps which allow everyone to input their calendars, making it easy to see if there are any free dates that work.
Location
Skiing is a great daytime activity, but you will want something to do in the evenings. This is why researching your location is essential.
For more choice, larger ski resorts such as those in Andorra will offer everything you can think of. Pas de la Casa is a must-see, and there are plenty of eateries for all dining preferences. There is nothing more idyllic than sitting beside a roaring fire and enjoying the company of people you love.
Accommodation
Travelling in groups means choices can be limited. In the planning stage be clear on what sort of budget everyone has so you can accommodate everyone.
Larger groups will find hotels a lot more expensive even if you are all sharing rooms. Instead, look at booking a catered ski chalet. You can all relax together and chill out without having to worry about food or cleaning.
Smaller groups will have more options such as an Airbnb-style space. Cooking together can create some hilarious and delicious memories that you will carry with you into the future.
Book in some lessons
Skiing can be a bit intimidating if you haven’t tried it before. Many skiing holidays will be able to provide lessons regardless of your experience so be sure to book those in advance. Having a laugh on the slopes is key, so taking the pressure off in some lessons is ideal. Perfect for beginner skiers and more experienced.
You may be able to book other experiences such as fondue tasting with the ski resort’s in-house team as well. Take a lookat what is on offer and see who wants to take part. Remember, there is nothing wrong with different parts of your holiday group doing different activities – it just gives you more to chat about!
